This dude is lazy. EDM played some very good defensive teams like LA. LA was the best team in the nHL I think this year the last half. Year prior the teams the Oilers played were very very close to the teams TO played in GA

As for Matthews, he is TERRIBLE

It's mindboggling how much of a pass he gets. The guy is invisible for 90% of a game. Just glides around does nothing. If you want to play a non goal scoring non playoff performer 13.5M have at it.

The only time he stood out to me, was ONE TIME tonight. He actually tried to bulldoze a Panther in the Panthers zone in the first period. He half hit him. I cannot remember one other memorable thing he did all game. I find myself thinking this way most of the time I watch him.

He never ever takes a hold of a game and "wants" that puck like other superstars do. Making at least multiple "out of your seat" plays a game, etc. He is "just there"

Matthews gets lauded (major overhype as being a 'Danault') for his defensive play. Is that what you want for 13.5 mill? No goal scoring and some good D play?

If Matthews scores a couple more goals, good chance TO gets to round 3.

Exactly. EDM was even less balanced iMO and they had their crap playoffs, CHI play in and WPG.

They learned and kept developing (and the team slowly got more balanced).

TO fans want to talk about goalies Edmonton faces, HOW ABOUT EDMONTON HAVING SUB 900% tending in the playoffs? They are in round 3 lol

They had below average tending last year and made the finals.

The big boys got them there. Add in Bouchard too.

Matthews has a NMC. Treliving should 100% try and force AM to accept a trade because (imo) the return would be more important for the Leafs winning in the playoffs than what Matthews does. And by A LOT.

The fact that plenty of folks had him over Draisaitl as recently as last season is downright criminal.

The fact that Draisaitl makes 8.5 this season while Matthews makes 13.25... Draisaitl is worth triple the value
