him and Marner are just not compatible. I'm willing to bet Matthews explodes with a line driver/play maker that shows up in the playoffs. Now should a player worth that much need someone like that is another question.

I don’t think many would consider Pavel Datsyuk, for example, to be a playoff choker but he carried that label pretty much until his Age 29 season so it’s not unheard of for players to turn it around late.

But the fact that Datsuyk is always brought up shows just how rare it is. Could it happen with Mathews? Sure. But the odds are very low.

While Barkov is known more nationally now, whenever I see a "top 10 current NHL players'' list you never see his name with the best of the best.

Matthews deserves to take heat but Marner is even worse. The stats are right there for all to see. Matthews out produces Marner. Marner also way softer somehow. Can't take a hit at all at least Matthews takes a few hits before vanishing. Marner is unwilling to take even 1

No they arent he is injured. Why does HF boards ignore injuries? Is it because people here didnt ever play competitve sports?

Alfredsson, Hossa, Datsyuk lots of greats were labelled playoffs chokers that reversed that mantra.
