Paywall.

Perhaps someone with access can summarize this?

(Sounds like the guy has follow through issues)
That would be the most generous interpretation possible.

Dude is a straight up charlatan, the league will never happen, just like all of his other grandiose schemes never materialized. Has used this MO of promising an imminent influx of money from overseas investors repeatedly and in the end there’s no money and no evidence that he has any such contacts. Absolutely zero chance this “league” plays a single game. Tried to bid on multiple NHL franchises in the past, a junior team, revive the WHA during the lockout. More or less the same story each time.

Pretty much every person contacted for the article who knew him said stay far away. This guy has zero credibility. The best part is him hanging up immediately when the reporter called him, lol.

Looks like the KHL already experimented with this in the past. Here's what it looks like.

Yes, they did.

The Russian hockey federation (FHR) tried something similar as well. There were some differences in rules between KHL & FHR 3x3 experimental tournaments. Since the KHL separated from FHR (& IIHF) in summer 2024, the KHL can launch their new 3x3 league with different rules than FHR/IIHF have.

KHL 3x3 will be streaming & broadcasted in TV. Their priority is the youngest generation of fans watching the games online, even though you can buy a ticket to watch games live as well. The most important is that the clubs will have no expenses, everything is paid by league/sponsors. OK, just players´ salaries, but the guys are already under (2-way) contract with these clubs, so no change. Plus the clubs can sign UFAs for these 3x3 games well.

OK. Thank you. And what about 3ICE? If I get it, they do not have a championship/league in 2024, will they continue in future?
They say they’ll be back next year, supposedly being “bigger and better,” which reads like they need more robust partnerships. I guess we have to wait and see.

Yea the guy running it tried to buy the Blues at one point but turned out to be another Spanos. Hes a massive con artist.
Would like to know what he promised Steve Dangle though. Beyond the likely access.
