Is Leafs finally winning the cup?

Was adding Carlo and Laughton the final pieces to the puzzle? Can anyone stop Leafs from taking the cup?
Yes.

Just before the deadline everyone knew that Carlo and Laughton were the key ingredients for any deep run, whoever adds them becomes instantly cup favourite ;)

I like to poke fun at the pompous 'leafs nation' as much as the next hockey fan, but, I will be honest:
This iteration of the Maples Leafs actually does look like they may have all the ingredients.

--High powered offensive star players? Check
--Grindy, physical bottom sixers? Check
--Defensemen that actually CAN cover? Surprisingly, check.
--Goaltending that has shown they can steal games throughout the year? Yep, they seem to have that too.
--OTHER teams at various points in their competitive cycles that might favor Toronto? Hmmm....barely, but yes, there IS NO one dominant team out there, though there are certainly very, very good ones.
--Possibility of starting a series at home, thus gaining matchup advantages, and fan momentum? Check that too.

So, they got it all together, I say, right?
Well, yes...HOWEVER (you KNEW there was gonna be a 'however' in here, right? Right??), that is all based on regular season, where they will see the highs and lows of a long schedule, face some really worn out teams on some nights, play others who may not be giving much of a crap on that particular night, or maybe get away with playing a not-so-good game against a team that won't see them again for a long time during the season....if ever (could be the last game against a West squad).

As always, it comes down to WHO SHOWS UP for Toronto in the playoffs.
And let's face it...that is what has really been the problem for this team.
They can have all the ingredients...remix them, bolster them, all that....but if one or two key players simply don't rise to the occasion of the playoffs, it won't matter a damned bit, and some team that may be less overall talented and Cup ready will oust them in the first round because THEIR guys stepped up.

So I agree with those saying that the Leafs need to do more to gain the respect of everyone watching the league and the playoffs.
Until they show they can break the same ol, same ol cycle, they will get ridiculed, high hopes WON'T be held out for them (except for maybe the pompous fans who think just because they wear the blue leaf they are just gonna roll people), and well, there ARE other teams out there who will step up, are talented as well, and have a track record of having players that show up during the post season.

Toronto is their own worst playoff opponent.
Until they beat the one and out version of themselves, and guys play like they are paid, nothing will change.

Other than THOSE minor details :snide: , sure, Toronto has a clear runway to win the Cup.

I will say this,

They have the talent to do it. They've had the talent to do it a long time now. But they haven't demonstrated the ability to win. And until they do something, there's going to be a lot of skeptiscm thrown their way.

That being said, at least Marner stepped up in the Four Nations. Maybe that will spark something for him. Because up until now, he's been the most disappointing of them all.
Talent only gets you so far.
Add to that the Leafs have never had good enough depth up front, defence one thru six , or goaltending to win 2 rounds.......let alone 4.

Toronto is a joke and will get their teeth kicked in during the playoffs

Would be awesome if they win, but I always been a realist
