Is Kate Madigan in line for the GM role, with Fitzgerald now President of Hockey Ops?

Kate Madigan has been with the team for some time now and has grown tremendously under Tom Fitzgerald.

In fact, many likely didnt know, Kate ran hockey ops before today! The Devils had no President of Hockey Ops and thus she was in charge of such a role along with the help of Marty and Fitz

With Fitz taking a step up to President of Hockey Ops (and likely continuing to be the main decision-maker):

would it not be the perfect opportunity to make Kate Madigan the first female GM in hockey history?! She can ease her way into the role with Fitz still by her side and it could be a major step forward in the progression of hockey standards changing

It was rumored Pittsburgh and a few other teams wanted to interview her for their respective GM positions!

Seems odd to have a brand new poster pumping the tires of Kate Madigan!
It's almost like the poster is related to her, or has some other agenda!

Oh well, I guess we'll see!
Im sure youd say the same if it was a man, right?

Lmao I made a Reddit account about it too; didnt see any comments like this there or on NJs forums!

Sorry if a possibly monumental moment getting me on a few sites offended you!

That's ok, I'm not offended!

And I had no idea what gender you were!

I just call them as I see them!

Im a guy btw! Just funny how if I made a new account posting about Jim Harbaugh in the NFL nobody would blink, but a woman in a sport gets these responses!
Nope. Make a brand new account and only talk about a specific person that is not very well known, people will question you no matter what. This isnt because of a gender thing lmao.

Yes, thats the news for today; oh no, a new poster talking about a woman? They must be obsessed or related!
What did I say about gender in my post? It’s just clear you’re not here to open a discussion and instead you’re pushing your agenda, regardless of what it’s based on (gender, relation to her, devils fan, stalker, scorned lover, etc). I’m sorry for your perpetual victimhood.

@RangerRunner , Some precisions would be appreciated. Kate Madigan isn't exactly an household name. I didn't even know on which team front office she was on. Hell, I didn't even know which team Tom Fitzgerald was POHO of.

Gender aside, I have a hard time believing anyone 30 years old could do the job of GM in the NHL. Not only from a maturity standpoint, or an experience standpoint, but just in terms of respect from your peers. Most thought Dubas was way too young to get the position that he did with the Leafs and obviously that didn't go very well in the end.

I doubt she gets GM job. Probably gets AGM for a few years and then probably breaks into a GM role ona worse position team than the devils

Doesnt make sense for the devils to hire someone so inexperienced as the GM.

She should build her resume via AGM for 2-3 years and then likely has a suitor on a team looking for a teardown (best situation for a new GM to start imo)

Dan McKinnon
25 years in the NHL
Director of NHL scouting from 2000-2009
Director of player personnel from 2009-2020
Asst GM for Devils since 2019, 4.5 years
GM of Utica since 2019, 4.5 years
Sr VP of Hockey Ops for Devils since 2019

Kate Madigan
7 years in NHL
Director of Hockey Ops from 2021-2022
Asst GM of Devils since 2022, 1.5 years

Is she that much more proficient than MacKinnon, if they want to hire from the inside?

So poorly he got employed in the same position with another team immediately.

Actually he got more responsibility. I'm not here to comment on whether that was a good decision either lol...but my point stands that it's a difficult job and I'd be floored if they hired a 30 year old as GM.
