I think you can view that trade 2 ways.
1. Wrong decisions.
2. Not enough back to make that move.

I'm sure they expected a jump from Laf and Kakko sooner. They also wasted that offseaon on moves that were going to make them tougher, or at least harder to compete against. None of those players are still here and maybe Buchnevich wouldn't still be here either, but it was a panic offseason.
