If the Lightning Management are DUMB enough to listen to the mere handful of spoiled rotten, crybaby, fair weather fans who are calling for Cooper's firing, the organization deserves whatever failures happen to it moving forward for the rest of its time in the NHL.
For a young coach with Cooper's record to suddenly become available, there are teams that would fire their existing Head Coach if Cooper would sign with them, let alone the teams already needing a coach.
As others have mentioned, the issue is NOT the Head Coach. The issue IS the amount of Cap Space tied up in the core players who have failed to live up to those contracts over the past three postseasons. With the amount they have tied up in underperforming, aging fan favorites, they are unable to sign the same quality of bottom six players they used to have. In addition, the farm system talent is level is far below what it used to be, having been used to achieve the success of the back-to-back Championships.
