Is Jack Eichel on his way to a career year resurgence?

Just bopping between here and Youtube and noticed that Eichel is fourth in NHL scoring and I've always thought that his career has been mildly disappointing from what I hoped for in his prospect days.

Right now his best year was in 19-20 and frankly i had forgotten about it since he hasn't had that great a regular season resume since that year.

What is his legacy going to look like when it's all said and done?

Eichel’s been pretty good for like his last five seasons when on the ice if you can properly account for that the neck injury lost him time on his career and that returning from that surgery to his best took a little time.

He's been underrated lately. Him and Stone together have been dynamite. One of the best tandems today who both play an elite 200 ft game.

If only the sabres didn't try to ruin his career and life, he wouldn't be so underrated at this point. And maybe buffalo would be farther along in there 8th rebuild in 10 years.

Did you not see him rip up the Stanley Cup Playoffs en route to a Cup a year and a half ago? He just needed to get healthy enough to play a full season. It's not like the whole thing with the neck surgery wasn't well publicized.

I think it was more just about finding his game again and adjusting to a new team more than it was health, in his case. He was (barely) sub-ppg for the first 90+ games upon his return, and I think at first it was just getting on the ice, feeling ok, getting the game speed back.. then he slowly added the shit that makes him special, holding the puck and having dudes bounce off him as he circles about, and boom- he’s back to his peak. Totally different team and culture to adjust to, I just don’t think he was in a rush to put the team on his back until he had/has to.

Also, his highs in Buffalo were underrated. Dude went all out for 25+ games for us (playoff-sorta intensity) and that not resulting in playoffs mighta broken him. I just remember like a 3-2 win in Ottawa where it was just a Jack hat trick, then the next game we lost 4-2 with 2 Eichel goals or somethin, shit like that. I remember him thoroughly outplaying Matthews in at least one matchup. He’d have potentially hit 100 points with one decent linemate when he was at his best, but alas, not to be. I think he’ll age really well, health and a decent squad were the limiting factors for him in the past.

I’m sorry you are a …Sharks fan?

Mind the glass

I don't know, I'd hide after a comment like that.
From who? The mustachioed marshmallow man? Just avoid his gaze until the playoffs and he will disappear as usual

Don't like the truth huh, buffalo has been rebuilding since the mid 2000's and still has nothing to show for it.

Eichel was always an amazing player, and the Sabres gave him up for jack shit

Reminder the Flames offer also included Tkachuk

Vegas fleeced the Sabres so hard that it might as well be a golden fleece.

Eichel certainly had the ceiling to be a top-5 player every year if he had better injury luck and better circumstances. Sometimes that's just the way she goes.

Don't call it a comeback, he's been here for years.

Resurgence? He won a cup in 2022/23. Last year he was on pace for about 90 points but just got injured.

USA’s 1C. Some guys may put up gaudier stats during the regular season, but you can count the guys who are more impactful than Eichel on one hand. Absolute horse
