Reeves was done before he signed with Toronto, they need a guy who can play hockey AND fight when needed, not a guy who can’t play hockey and refuses to fight at all……….

Leafs Nation riot: After 7 years of failure, Reaves and Benoit must pay the price
Sounds about right, like benching fourth liners when the team’s supposed stars decide to mail it in. Only in Leafland……….

Waiving Reeves is justified as too many times he fails to answer the bell when needed. We didn't bring him in for his scoring or playmaking. It won't win us the cup but it won't hurt either. He needs to step up or go.

Would be very picked up by another team? I doubt it. So, in that case, for sure waive him as I think he'll still be available for us when we need him.

I imagine he will get the Simmonds treatment at some point, certainly won't be any great loss.

Ottawa
Leafs problems right now
50% Matthews
15% Marner
10% bottom six is ice cold
24% years of ineptitude, bad roster construction, bad memories, and the glaring issue of allocating a ton of cap into four guys who can't win
1% Reaves sucks

Sure, waive him, but that's only really asking to make a slight change to the shade of lipstick we're putting on the pig.

In what scenario would they need him?

I can't tell if you're being facetious or not.

In the case of piling injuries/illness throughout the lineup. Or, in the case they know they're in for a donnybrook of a game and will need some extra muscle.

What does this guy even do?

Other than stand there and shoot a few stink eyes while opponents skate around him and score. He needs to be punching a lot more faces to justify keeping him in the lineup. What he should be doing is giving a couple of the mega-millionaires on this team a smack up the side of the head.

Not that I expect it would do them any good.

One thing Reaves does have going for him is swagger. The biggest cock of the walk and he knows it. Too bad being full of yourself doesn't make you a good hockey player.

If it did I'd be Gretzky.

Reaves can do one thing well and one thing only. That's punching someone in their stupid ugly face. Reaves is a one trick pony that way.

And if he's not doing that one trick he's not doing much of anything.

It's a team effort. Having a line quite clearly handicapped and an issue while on the ice when you have better players to play -- they are to blame just as much as other parts that are struggling. Definitely not the least of our worries.

I like the guy but it's embarrassing trying to see him make a play with the puck. And he hasn't fought at all this year. He's not even involved in pissing off the other team... he's just there.

If were at the point of attacking the fourth line the team has much bigger problems then the fourth line.

You can blame different parts of the team struggling. The fourth line is struggling and in particular Reaves. What's wrong with pointing that out? We can only blame one thing at a time as a collective?

Reavo comes in waves these days. Up and down last year, great playoffs, started strong this year, slumping now. Gotta keep an eye on him down the stretch and make a judgment call if he has another playoffs in him as a 12/13.

The Winnipeg Jets are 11-1-0 and their fourth line is -7. The Leafs fourth line is -8. Try again.

He can’t or won’t fight anymore. We watched Marner get filled in on Saturday and he did nothing about it. Suter was running around all night and I don’t think he even noticed. His job is to grab him or someone by the scruff of the neck and tell them to F-OFF.

I’d rather have Clifford up at this point. Reaves just simply can’t catch his pray. I see he always intends to lay big hits but it just doesn’t work out as he’s either not fast enough or gassed

Last night was a classic case where he could have made a point and gone after Zadorov
The game was out of hands, we had 4-0 lead

At that point you had to make a point. See Arbur Whateverhislastname is from Montreal. He waited until the end of the game to go after Aciari

LIke somone said, we are better off with Clifford at this point. Clif gets his role

@ 4-0 it was too late. Berube had him out there in the last 2 or 3 minutes to prevent the Bruins from doing something stupid or react if they did, but he should have filled in Zadorov when the score was still 0-0.

He's useless, so yes it's time.

He doesn't do anything. He doesn't create energy for his team. He doesn't try to initiate a pest level game. He can't skate and certainly can't produce. He doesn't protect his teammates. Matthews, Domi and McCabe have done more protecting and whatever than Reaves has done all season. Reaves watched Pacioretty get cheap shotted and he did nothing for 30 minutes.

Just Simmons him on waivers and keep him around the dressing room to police the stereo.

It's just a matter of time now.

Why does it have to be about preventing instead of initiating? Why can't he run over someone or get into it? Do something? Maybe find Zadorov or McAvoy?

It's always about doing nothing...It's so useless.

Sure, hit someone, but at 4-0 there was really no need to initiate. I assume he was talking to them, but their players are not dropping the gloves with him.

When Zadorov was kneeling on Pac, that’s the time to stop that nonsense.
