Looks like a completely different player now. Last playoffs he handled the puck like a hand grenade. Now he's shown some composure. He's going to be a fixture next to Drew for years at this rate.
True (Cyclone) but then that is how it is supposed to work. You bring a kid up knowing that they will need time to adjust to playing at the NHL level and if everyone has done their jobs right which in our case is how things have been being done for about 5 years now everything works out and you get a pipeline that feeds great young players to your team.
Muzzin AMart Nolan King Lewis Pearson Toffoli and on and on have all or currently are all doing pretty much what was/is expected of them since their draft. Some picked things up more quickly than others but they are all products of an excellent system.
Not all of our picks pan out but the ones that do you can see coming from a mile away.
He has the size, the skill and the skating ability to be a really good defensemen. But he is a lot like Dion Phanuef when it comes to his bad decision making sometimes. He probably would be better off being paired with Voynov Right now.
I'm happily eating crow. I got chills when he was so pumped after his goal last night. So happy for the guy putting it all together. I thought his two biggest weaknesses were his agility (eminently fixable, I just thought he had clompy steps) and between the ears.
Agreed. My biggest criticism of him was that this is a guy who, one year ago, was hucking sweet centering passes to Blues players when he heard footsteps in the playoffs. Learning experience it seems because he's playing ice cold nerves now.
To be fair I think my big concern wasn't so much if he would figure it out but when. I certainly didn't expect him to figure things out so quickly, I just didn't want to burn 3-4 years of our current team because Doughty's partner grew slowly if that made sense. Obviously the insiders knew better than I but from the outside looking in especially I feel like that was a valid concern. See: Johnson, Jack.
We made a thread about King like this and his game went to hell. This is all on you if the same happens.
Nope, I let my playoff "beard" grow even scruffier this season then I did during our cup run AND had to make a presentation looking like a pubescent werewolf who was going all Benjamin Button. They were hockey people so were understanding but man do I look like a homeless wolverine who can't grow hair all too well or with any sort of uniformity.
We are all good on the hex front.
(fingers crossed and spit twice over my right shoulder just in case)
I never understood the hate on him and am glad to see how much he's grown. He and A-Mart aren't afraid to shoot the puck and both have great shots. Defensively, he is very solid.

I'm really superstitious when it comes to hockey.
Funny thing is Dwight King's game is the same it was to start the year.
The guy plays the same way pretty much ever shift, except now his line-mates are Non offensive players.
King/Richards/Williams did look really good though, wonder if Sutter stays with that line.
They were kept together in practice today, so they're definitely together for Game 3.
It's also a good thing that Muzzin has been paired with Doughty for just about the entire season. They're so used to playing together now that they understand each other's reads and aren't going to be surprised by anything their partner is going to do.
Could be looking at LA's top pairing for many years to come (that is if they are able to re-sign Muzzin at a reasonable rate next summer when he'll be a RFA).
Just out of curiosity, has anyone eaten a crow? I assume, they're edible, but I don't know of any restaurant that serves crow.
.....that you know of. It may not be on the menu, but that doesn't mean that "chicken" or "duck" you ordered isn't crow disguised.
Apparently somebody has tried it:

Damn, wacky Canadians.
