Is it possible to have too much respect?

I have a friend who is a die hard leafs fan. He told me, other teams play extra hard against the leafs because of how much they respect them. So every game is as hard as a cup clinching game 7 for the leafs.

I'm curious what other people think, is it possible for teams to get too much respect? If so is that why the leafs have been floundering?

Yes that is exactly why. Panthers definitely wouldn't have tried as hard to win a Game 7 against other teams. Glad we finally understand whats the matter
