Is it just me or is AEW starting to feel like WWE's feeder system?

That's supposed to be NXT but It's starting to feel like that's what AEW has become.

Yeah you got guys like Shelton and Lashely and Edge jumping to AEW but.

Cody
Punk
Ethan paige
Ricky Saints
Jade Cargill
Penta
Rey Phoenix
Mariah May

And I know I'm missing some.

It feels like AEW has become a feeder system for WWE over the last few years

Back in the 90s that was WWF to WCW and vice/versa...gonna happen when you have 2 big companies

Up until the last few months ppl were saying the opposite that WWE were stacking AEW

I know, I was around for that but that felt differentI can't exactly explain why but it did
At least until Summer of 99.

AEW has become a feeder system for NXT. The only ones going straight to WWE are the ones Vince released that were Hunter guys.

I do like how AEW was criticized for bringing in to many WWE guys at the beginning....and are now being criticized for talent leaving and going to WWE? Lmao. Talent is going to come and go, from both companies it is something they have absolutely no control over. I am more interested in when we get the first one to go AEW to WWE and then back to AEW. That is inevitable, just a matter of who and when.

It would be hilarious if it ended up being Punk. It would obviously never happen, but it would be incredibly funny.

Cody left because of creative/personal differences and Punk was fired. The rest are mid carders a best other than Mariah. Meanwhile, they've brought in way more talent than they've lost during that time so the answer is obviously no.

Very much this...

It's weird the AEW reddit page, I know not really a great barometer, but one we have, is the amount of posts lately saying that the OP is a WWE long time fan burnt out on the recent product and have liked the AEW direction.

Let's see if upcoming ratings see an upward trajectory...just interesting to see those type posts

Part of AEWs issue now is how they handle their bloated roster. It's great for the guys (and gals) who just want to keep collecting a steady paycheque and work 1 week out of every 4.

But if you truly want to get to the top of the wrestling business, why go or stay in AEW where you could be put on Khan's proverbial shelf without rhyme or reason? No one gets over sitting at home off TV.

Meanwhile you got new performers showing up on almost a weekly basis.

How can you effectively manage all these talents and have direction for them the haphazard way AEW runs their company?

AEW needs to cut the bloat, bring the roster down to a manageable size where everyone is being used regularly and has some direction of where their characters are headed. The continuity of a smaller, tighter roster should help increase viewership as well.

A lot of this is pretty normal when you have multiple big companies with talent moving back and forth and taking what they feel is the best overall offer to what they want out of this profession.

It wasnt that long ago that AEW successfully out bid WWE for Mercedes, Okada and Ospreay.

There will also be young talent from the WWE side that will probably jump to AEW over the next few years as well since there won't be room for everyone and some of them will believe they have a higher ceiling then how they are booked.

What's actually a talking point is how all the rest of the wrestling companies have seemingly turned into feeder programs for WWE and AEW.

For me the only one that has felt that way is Edge...almost everyone else is contributing something
Eh I'd say it's more than that. Some of them have even done good to decent stuff, like Christian or Edge in my opnion. But when you've got Jericho, Edge, Christian, Jarrett, Dustin Rhodes, Lashley, Benjamin, Matt and Jeff Hardy, and Mark Henry (even off screen) drawing paycheques in recent years it gives whiffs of a retirement home to me. Which isn't to say that some of them have been useless (love Christian) but it is what it is.

Yeah all that young talent dominating WWE shows though.

OK? WWE definitely has an old roster.

That put me to sleep Tuesday lol...the evolve kids are so green...a lot of boring on that show to me. And Mariah looked head and shoulders over everyone in that segment...she is already wasted with that group

I didnt watch this week so cant comment but it is generally a pretty fun show, nothing earth shattering, but fun. A lot of the talent is green as grass though and it does show

I wasn't even referring to them. Although she's on main roster now, Roxanne Perez, Thea Hail, Je'Von Evans, Sol Ruca, Kelani Jordan.. Just a few names.

Well yeah, of course, because WWE is signing professional wrestlers (potentially outside of Jade who was/is still green) versus the bulk of NXT people who WWE are trying to transition from athletes into wrestlers. Yes, obviously wrestlers are athletes and WWE has had some success with their current developmental approach, however signing free agents from AEW is lower risk in terms of the floor of their abilities. It's no guarantee they will become stars but their foundations are better than John & Jane Doe collegiate or professional athlete with no professional wrestling experience.
