Stuart Skinjob might be the most defended .780 goalie ever, besides every other time he has a sub .800.
No did I say that? Skinner has mostly been fantastic for like 2 months. Everyone just has October burned into their minds when everyone, including him played like garbage. The stats look bad for him tonight and you would want him to get down quicker but the game winner is an inexcusable play by the D. And it’s just that. The game winner.Wait, so others can make mistakes, but Skinner is perfect and nothing is his fault?
And other teams give up 10 bell chances regularly. It's almost like a goaltender is supposed to stop pucks
Pickard would've won this game. At worst he gets us to OT in this one.I would certainly hope Pickard could be good against the absolute dregs of the league. And even then he's still lost a couple of gimmes.
You can’t be serious here? You think it’s ok that two D just skated behind the net like the buzzer just went and let Dubois have a free wide open look? Can you imagine if the other team let us do that? There was two guys back that’s a routine clear and it cost them the game. Its not Skiners fault he let the initial shot right through him? How could he not square up better on that one? The shot beat him, hit the post. Skinner was ill prepared for the first shot and was a beached whale on the Dubois empty net. That was about as clownshow as it gets generally, except I realize we've seen far worse bloopers from Skinner.
Somebody should photoshop that winning goal. Skinner has a puck behind him, broken stick in the cage, put a beachball and a jungle gym in there.
His play the whole game was inexcusable. Defensemen grip sticks and try and do too much when their goalie is sieve. No did I say that? Skinner has mostly been fantastic for like 2 months. The most unpredictable part of the G/D dynamic is Skinner. For instance 20secs before the winning goal where he handed the Caps the puck on the previous sequence.Defenders doing shit that doesn’t make any sense creates situations that goalies cannot predict and have a very low chance to save. It’s pretty universal to anybody who stops pucks.
We'll never know because he wasn't even available for the game.Pickard would've won this game. At worst he gets us to OT in this one.
That goal sends them to OT at best if Skinner does his job earlier in the gameYou can’t be serious here? Don't worry, TK! Your buddies in Oilers management are on the job!Stuart Skinjob might be the most defended .780 goalie ever, besides every other time he has a sub .800.
Just watch Ekholm make a heroic save on that potential breakaway. He stripped the puck with desperation like the OIlers live depended on it. Because it did and Skinners in net on a breakaway otherwise. That play alone kind of shows not only how much the D ball out for this club but that they feel they have to.His play the whole game was inexcusable. Defensemen grip sticks and try and do too much when their goalie is sieve.
Of all the fans to defend the kid, tonight ain't it.
Pickard was on the bench. Stop listening to everything wrong in the broadcast. We'll never know because he wasn't even available for the game.
But that doesn't change that Pickard usually starts against the worst teams in the league. There's a reason for that.
Lots of chatter for an EBUG in this game. Regardless, Pickard usually gets the starts against the weaker teams. There's no denying that.Pickard was on the bench. Stop listening to everything wrong in the broadcast.
Sorry bout that. I was banging on the glass and my nachos slipped outta my hand.I guess the 20buck Nachos weren't any good either. What kind of asshat throws that on the ice during play? Embarrassing from an Edmonton fan standpoint. You'd expect this kind of thing from somebody thats lived in a dark cave all their life raised by baboons.
Whoever that was hope they were thrown out promptly. Imagine even if a goal or chance got called back on the basis. Still something you should never do.
Could have used Pickard more.Could’ve used McDavid tonight
No denying that the worst goalie performance of the season was Skinner against a Columbus team that were among league worst at the time. Skinner gave up 6 in that one as I recall.Lots of chatter for an EBUG in this game. Regardless, Pickard usually gets the starts against the weaker teams. There's no denying that.
Exactly. We need to start a running thread of games we lost because of goaltending. Feels like it's cost over ten wins already.
It's making me crazy people are comparing Skinner's stats to other goalies. There is maybe 8 other team that suppress scoring chances like the Oilers. We have two replacement level goalies that are being made to look average lol
Agreed. If he’s had more offence than it would automatically bump Brown and Henrique up as well. Janmark just holdsHe started the year well. I like the player but he’s been an offensive black hole for awhile now.
Skinner made no attempt at that puck. He looked at and didn’t move. That Thompson save on Nurse than Janmark was the exact same- except Thompson has superior lateral movement. Skinner didn’t freaking move. You can’t be serious here? You think it’s ok that two D just skated behind the net like the buzzer just went and let Dubois have a free wide open look? If SKinner has a Euro name, he would have had multiple articles with scathing reviews.Skinner's career stats are basically the same as Mikko Koskinen's.
For context Mikko Koskinen played behind a much worse defensive team and everyone said he had to go....
Because October is also part of the season, no?No did I say that? Skinner has mostly been fantastic for like 2 months. You’re 100% right. Add that Skinner is also a local kid. The only way they move on from him is if he has his typical round 1 playoffs and Oilers don’t score at a 50% PP clip and the oilers get trouncedIf SKinner has a Euro name, he would have had multiple articles with scathing reviews.
He gets dealt with kid gloves here.
I'd like this, but I apparently hurt a Canucks fan's feelings...If SKinner has a Euro name, he would have had multiple articles with scathing reviews.

It's a shi**y thing to say, but I think the only way they try to get a goalie is if Skinner just starts crapping the bed hard the next while. SO bad that they are forced to do it.Because October is also part of the season, no?
You can like Skinner all you want. You can believe he is a good goalie. Facts and data disagree with you though. His first year has still been his best and he has been declining every year. Ironically that happens with all goalies coached by D Schwartz
