It's hard to believe he managed to resist the allure of that iconic citadel known as the MSG homeless encampment. Maybe it was the crumbling paint.he just said what 99% of NHLers already feel. They don't want to play in Newark

But all players want to play under the bright lights.Rangers were never in on him but nice try
I'd sooner blow my eardrums out than sit through an entire 2.5 hour podcast listening to them talk about nothing, but when they have good guests on they're usually pretty good at letting them talk. Go to YouTube and just skip through until you see Johnny, that's what I would usually do.The real tragedy of this thread is the temptation to listen to this abomination of a podcast.
How dare we have a proven playoff veteran in our lineup when we are ready to contend.....If Devils were further in they develoment then yes but Devils aren’t looking like a playoff team yet and will take a year or two before they mean business and by then Palat is past his prime
In a a contract year nonetheless, centered by a player who also had a career year, and with Matt Tkachuk on the other wing. Does Johnny make players better and is he a superstar? Yes, of course. But it's almost like context matters, last year probably goes down as the best in his career.I dunno mate, he just put up an MVP caliber season in a place he wanted out of![]()
You would be cheering for him to fail even if he signed with your team because he grew up a Flyers fan?
Pretty much this. What I don’t get is what was so bad in Calgary that he wanted to take so much less to go to Columbus of all places. It would be an insane overreaction for devils fans to boo this guy. It’s like crying over a girl that you were never going out with. We will be fine
exactly, he didn't trash talk calgary after just wanted to move on. He said he didn't want family/friends coming over all the time if he picked NJ and columbus was far enough away they could drive down but not be on his case for tickets constantly. Title is very misleading and should be updated as it's just causing a massive overreaction over nothing. The podcast itself isn't that bad and what Gaudreau said wasn't even bad at all. Holy overreaction in here.
Homicide rate doesn't really matter for a person worth millions upon millions of dollars.Calgary might be the calmest city, with over 1 million people, in the world. It's literally just endless suburban sprawl designed specifically to raise families. Very low crime rate.
Calgary, despite being about 50% bigger than Columbus, had 39 homicides in 2020. Columbus had 178.

Or he didn't think Columbus was going to reach out and he didn't want to wait too long in the process and end up on neither. Here's the thing though. Sometimes, silence is better than nothing.
If that's the case, NJD is the last team he wants to sign for (just like Sabres for Hall last two offseason). It shows he never wants to sign with NJD. Players who never wants to be with the team usually will be detrimental to the team (ROR is an exception).
He can just wait for CBJ to finally offer him and just outright rejects NJD (like he did dirty to the Flames) in the first place.
There’s a lot of headline watching going on with regard to Gaudreau. He has said time and time again since signing in Columbus that it was not an easy decision to leave Calgary and that he did it for personal reasons. He hasn’t said anything negative about Calgary through this whole process, and he’s given his 5-10 reasons for choosing Columbus over and over.
I’m not sure Philly or New Jersey fans have any reason to be even the least bit upset with him, if they even are. Most of this negativity is fabricated and will be forgotten soon.
