This thread is a disappointment- we had this same discussion like 2 weeks ago.

OP is new, though, so it’s ok- he’s just too early in his career. Disappointing for now, I guess.

He definitely doesn’t look like an elite superstar so far. Definitely hasn’t reached the McDavid/Crosby-level hype he had and isn’t looking like a future top 5 player. I know he’s only 19, but he hasn’t looked like a dominant player like we thought he would. He has a horrid plus/minus, is under a PPG, and hasn’t even hit the 20 goal mark, yet. He’s tied for 43rd in scoring. He’s a liability defensively and on the dot. He gets easily pushed off the puck and isn’t very fast. He’s was also left off Canada’s 4 Nations Roster and I doubt he makes the Olympic team in Milan next year. Right now, Macklin Celebrini, not Bedard, looks like the star of the future. I’m not even sure he reaches Jack Hughes-level.

An elite superstar is exactly what he looks like.

110 pts in 124 games, 19 years old - nineteen! With crap team to play on.

Tell you what, if you don't want him, we will take him off your hands.

Not if you didn't overhype him like 90% of people, that size and lack of acceleration has always stuck out.

He has always just looked like a 5'10 version of Matthews to me.

I mean he has been a step above where Hughes was at the same age with I would say less help around him so kinda strange conclusion

Bedard should be making his teammates better when he hasn’t. Right now, Ryan Donato has more goals than Bedard. Ryan Donato. Meanwhile guys like Crosby and McDavid are known for turning average players into good ones when out on a line with them.
Which is why he is not a "Crosby/Ovi/McDavid level talent". Those teams were obviously bad but atleast they had some vets around to atleast learn off the ice even if they weren't the players they once were.

He won’t be Matthews. Matthews scored 40 goals as a rookie, and he didn’t even play with Marner and Nylander. His linemates were guys like Connor Brown, Leo Komarov and pre-Edmonton Zach Hyman.

The Penguins were terrible in Crosby’s first season. The Oilers weren’t very good, either. McDavid was on pace to finish top 3 in the entire league in scoring as a rookie before his injury. His inspires? Nail Yakupov, Benoit Pouliot, and Jordan Eberle.

I guarantee you Foljgno could score 30 goals on a line with McDavid
I take it you haven't seen McDavid this year, or the Oilers ?

Mcdavid and Drai are the only ones who have, or are on pace to reach 30, or more goals this year, so he wouldn't.

Chicago has a lot of players who either aren't close to their potential and honestly, their potential isn't that high, or they just suck.

Chicago needs some better players and they need to start that this offseason.

Again, for the 3rd time, read it real slow. "He is not a Crosby/Ovi/McDavid level talent" He is very skilled but he, atleast as a teenager is not a put the entire team on my back and go type of guy. He needs support and Chicago is just a shitshow right now

Being "generational" requires a unique confluence of high IQ, elite hands, and physical tools. Bedard doesn't have the physical tools. He's not large, strong, or fast. Not his fault. His juniors production was generational though so I understand why the hype existed.

Bedard is better then both
Way better than Slafkosky but not Power. D take longer to develop and Power is looking like he’s turning into a top one.

Minus 23 this season and dash 70 overall. That’s disappointing.

He’s only a disappointment if you’re stupid enough to compare him to players who are Top 10 all time.

He hasn’t exceeded expectations, but he’s doing okay, certainly not “disappointment” level when he’s at close to a PPG (0.9) still under 20 years old.

Also crazy: Bedard doesn’t have a multigoal game this season. He hasn’t had one since April 12 last year against Arizona. He hasn’t scored more than one goal in a game in nearly a year. He also has yet to record a hat trick. Fantilli and Carlsson have. Where is this crazy shot that’s supposed to be a 40-50+ goal a season threat?

Oh, and he’s a power play merchant. He’s not good at even strength 5v5. A lot of his points come from assists on the PP.
