Was looking on NHL's website and they don't have him listed as a rookie.

He'd be leading all rookies in points with 11 points in 11 games.

He is not a rookie.

To be considered a rookie, a player must not have played in more than 25 NHL games in any preceding seasons, nor in six or more NHL games in each of any two preceding seasons. Any player at least 26 years of age (by September 15th of that season) is not considered a rookie.

Yet Logan Stankoven is a rookie because he played 24 games, one below the threshold and the 19 playoff games he played in don’t count. Equivalent of over half a season worth of games but Calder eligible.

The second half of this rule I always found to be dumb. Just make it 25 games flat.

Pietrangelo had a cup of coffee two years in a. row (I think he played 7 games each time), because of that he was ineligible for the Calder. Kind of stupid IMO.
