I know about Kelly as many leafs fans do. I also know I have never heard Bowen comment on converting kabs to a center until last nights game..... The day before I was reading a thread about it. The most likely explanation is that the read it here. Besides, Bowen isn't the type of guy to come up with something like that on his own.

I don't like how Bowen's voice is incessantly at this frequency between yelling and screaming. It can put you on edge if it goes on for too long. The guy loves his voice far too much, and I don't need my playbyplay guy yelling at me the whole game!

I think a main problem of his is not realizing that when you go from radio to TV, you don't need to tell people every little thing thats happening, many of us can see easily, especially with HD.

The guy I can't stand is Hughson. For one thing, he's a Canucks fan, which is reason enough to seriously dislike him. And there's no sense of drama (like Bob Cole) or excitement (like Joe Bowen). Plus, I find he talks almost in monotone, with that annoying, Kermit the Frog voice.

I agree with this guy. Jim Hughson is terrible, I wish we had Cuthbert doing the national games on HNIC. His voice sucks, it's not made for broadcasting IMO. Bowen's alright.

Seems he just throws out random comments that he observes or overhears at ice level. Never heard him really offer analysis.

During the lockout Paul played in my Mens League, ASHL in Oakville. Not a very good player and never stopped commenting while playing, pretty comical.

I'd rather listen to either Chris Cuthbert or Jim Hughson - hell even Dennis Beyack (sp?) or Mike Bartlett - than listen to clowns like Bowen, Millen, Miller, and McGuire.

When I tune into a game, I want to hear commentators who can accurately describe the action and nothing else. I don't want to hear stupid stories about how guys like Bowen and Millen were lousy in their playing days. I find it detracts from the game whenever these ass-clowns go off on their own little tangents when they should just stick to calling the play.

The least thing guys like Bowen and Millen can do is act like a knowledgeble professional, and not like a senile fool.

man watching those youtube clips makes me so nostalgic. will the leafs ever have a top line as talented and elite as Roberts-Sundin-Mogilny? i'm thinking never again. and the grinders those years were top notch.
