Is Anthony Stolarz the real deal?

If “real deal” means providing average goaltending for a period of 2-3 years then there is a long list of goalies that are the “real deal”. I can see why a Leafs fan would consider that the real deal based on what they have had to experience and playoff success over many years.
*above average and he’s still doing it in Carolina to this day. I think it’s safe to say he is the real deal, yes.

I don't understand the point of this post? Reimer, Andersen, Campbell were the "real deal" while in Toronto. Woll also appears to be good in limited action.

Also odd so many people are enthusiastic to write Woll off when he hasn't shown any decline in ability. Sure he has been injured, but so is Demko all the time and people don't discount his ability.

No one should be judging goaltenders at this point of the season anyways. 2 good or bad games massively changes any narratives when sample size is 5-6 games

I think he could be for real, although goalies are voodoo, we can't say this for certain unless he keeps it up for another 2 years.

It also helps his numbers that the Leafs are very good defensively, but Stolarz does look good.

A great signing that balances out the mistake of the Glass Woll's contract.

This is nothing against Stolarz, he is playing really really well, but Toronto is making it very easy on Stolarz. IMHO that is the biggest change I've seen from last year to this year

never started more than 28 games in a season and is on his 8th year in the league, so objectively, hell no he's not the real deal

that said, he's playing well in a very small sample size for a team desperate for competent goaltending, so toronto should be excited they might have a 1A or 1B finally

Looking pretty good so far. Workload and long-term health the concern.

2. Hell: 2.32
3. Kochetkov: 2.36
4. Bobrovsky: 2.42
5. Demko: 2.45

Save%:
1. Stolarz: .928
2. Helle: .923
3. Demko: .917
4. Daccord: .915
4. Swayman: .915
4. Ullmark: .915
4. Hofer: .915

High Danger save %:
1. Stolarz: .863
2. Markstrom: .843
3. Kahkonen: .842
4. Sorokin: .841
5. Ingram: .837

Hope he keeps it up.

Antneeee is a really good goalie. Only question is workload he can handle. We’ll have to revisit this thread later in the season.

Is Reimer the real deal?
Is Bernier the real deal?
Is Andersen the real deal?
Is Campbell the real deal?
Is Samsonov the real deal?
Is Woll the real deal?
Is Stolarz the real deal?

A tale as old as time.
I'm old enough to remember more;

Is Toskala the real deal?
Is Pogge the real deal?
Is Gustavsson the real deal?
Is Scrivens the real deal?

Biggest steal of the 2024 Free agency

I mean, Vancouver signed Lankinen for 875k...

But I have always quietly liked Stolarz's game, he provides the kind of baseline goaltending Toronto just hasn't had for quite a while. Excellent backup. I also had no idea he was that big - 6'6 245lbs?!
