Burger - A sandwich, obviously consisting of a beef patty in between two pieces of bread.

However, sandwiches do not necessarily have to mean two pieces of bread. For instance,

Submarines - A sandwich since it follows its design where you have a large bread (usually in a similar shape to a baguette), filled with meat, veggies, etc.

Now calling pizza a sandwich is where you start to lose me. Pizza is more so a pie (especially the deep dish Pizzas).

One of the arguments against the hot dog as a sandwich, was that it is a vertical sandwich. The hamburger is a standard horizontal sandwich, it is a sandwich.

Hamburger, yes it's a sandwich. First get a couple pounds of hamburger, into a bowl with spices, and some egg. Dump hamburger on counter, layer lots of ham and cheese, roll up, put in oven. Sriracha and ketchup slathered on top, get it crispy. Put in between two pieces of bread. Sandwich, a damn good one.

While I voted yes, if someone says "I have a bunch of hamburgers on the grill", do you picture a grill with a bunch of burning sandwiches? Same thing with hot dogs. The English language is no good.

What about two breads with some chicken strips between them, bathing sensually in sauce?
