Unfortunately, no vet with any type of movement clause is going to waive it to walk into this situation.


I think the fear of Cozens becoming a star elsewhere scares Adams to death.

Adams isn't scared, he's just the press secretary.

Terry is scared because every player who finds success elsewhere is an indictment on him as the GM/Owner.

That's not how it works, and Zucker has been a very decent player for us, but he can't stop this burning thing on his own or with anyone else. Adams is a terrible GM, Pegula is a terrible owner, that's all we need to know about this.

Impact players do not just perform on the ice. I'm also referring to leadership and guidance which seems to be lacking. I would figure that the coach lays out his game plan and said player(s) would buy into and execute. But we all have different ideas and how to correct the sinking ship.

Well, I agree, we lack vets and generally good players, we have too many young players on the roster, it doesn’t work that way.

Unfortunately this doesn't seem fixable within the year and a half. It's probably time for another mini re-build. Guys we should be trading:

Tuch because he is a year and a half from being a UFA and as much as he grew up loving the Sabres, I think he'll be looking to get out of this mess.

Greenway if he gets healthy before the deadline because he is a UFA after the season and will probably be looking to leave also.

Zucker because he is a UFA after the season.

One of Power or Byram because of redundancy on the blue line. I only trade Power if you are getting a youngish center back in return that has already established himself and is signed for at least 4-5 years after this one.

Any other pending UFA's, you trade and get the best you can.

Then in the off-season you end the Sabres recent tradition of giving free passes to the NHL for young recent draft picks. Sign and trade for vets to fill the lineup and make players earn their way to the NHL.

This team has the worst record in the NHL but they are not the worst team. If they can hit on their top 5 pick and make a couple savvy moves, they could stop the playoff drought after year 15.
