I’m sorry but someone has to start up this thread , enough is enough , this team is unfortunately playing like the New York Jets . They are a dysfunctional mess , with an owner who is absolutely killing it in the NFL and has potential to give the Bills their first ever Lombardi Trophy.

But in the NHL the Sabres are a laughing stock , they have lost 12 in a row , they have quit on Lindy and Adam’s clearly , they are so used to losing they literally have no pride or anything to believe in , our leaders are not leading and are simply so used to losing they can’t motivate the younger players .

The answer is so simple , hire an experienced President of Hockey Operations, no more rookie GM , but this is Terry Pegula . I still have no clue how the Bills are a Super Bowl Contender every year , while the Sabres are a Dysfunctional Mess.

So what is this thread? You didn't post a question. is Fire Sale the question? NO is the answer.

The value to TPegs is the collective value of all the assets. He can’t recoup cash by trading a player. He can establish a value based on the assets under contract and those with exclusive rights. I do not anticipate a fire sale. The opposite actually, complete inactivity.

No..my guess is they'll start handing out long contracts with more of these guys because they believe in them so much...Lock them up long term so they can't bolt elsewhere.

Any of them can simply say they've lost their love for playing in Buffalo and they'll be sent to another team, a tried and true method.

Adams is convinced that this is the core to build around, apparently.

I am not expecting any major moves anytime soon. Maybe we see another Mitts for Byram type deal...

Maybe.

This used to be a great franchise, but it is now the joke of the NHL. They are now 6 games away of tying their old record and 7 games away from breaking it! This team looks good on paper, but that is where it ends. The GM and owner are clueless which is astounding, because the GM used to be an NHL player. You would think he would have some sort of clue about talent and chemistry of players.

This team needs some veteran leadership, but what notable free agent is going want to sign with the Sabres?

Zucker?

Players make money, of course some experienced and expensive guys won't come here. But I am convinced that there are players who you can overpay a certain amount and they will come. I wanted to see DeBrusk, Noesen and Sherwood in Buffalo this summer. I understand that DeBrusk is unlikely, but we could overpay the other two and they would come, Imo. I don't know now, given the current circumstances. Although, if Pegula sells the team or appoints some experienced guy to lead the team, the chances will increase a little. The players are not idiots, they understand what is going on.

If Zucker was that much of an impact player, the Sabres would not be in a 12 game losing streak. As for throwing money around, Adams is not doing it. His ideology about building a team is flawed, after 4 years you think he would of clued in that it is NOT working, but his recent statements would suggest something else. They have the cap room, maybe Pegula can buy clue that this is not working for the Sabres.

Don't let current management make 1 subtraction from the team. Under no circumstances should adams (or anyone else there) trade away any assets.

If they do anything, grab waiver wire adds and send some young guys to rochester

That's not how it works, and Zucker has been a very decent player for us, but he can't stop this burning thing on his own or with anyone else. Adams is a terrible GM, Pegula is a terrible owner, that's all we need to know about this.

Its been time for a fire sale.

A fire sale of all of our future draft picks and recently drafted prospects to bring in good NHL players that this team needs to win now.
We don't have to sell everything, but we need to reduce the number of young players on the roster and add good players and vets.

The problem I have with this is the last two drafts involved drafting players that actually help win hockey games instead of just fun skill sets. Helenius is the only prospect they have that I think projects as an NHL C. Ostlund is little unknown right now. Been injured, but hasn’t adjusted to the AHL as we’d have hoped. Kleber and Strbak are totally off the table for me as the only two RHD with size they’ve drafted in the top 90 picks since Risto and before that, Corey Fienhage. 2 high picks on RHD in 16 years is a joke.
Every drafted winger (besides Benson) from the past 10 drafts should be available to upgrade the roster including Cozens.

Unfortunately, no vet with any type of movement clause is going to waive it to walk into this situation.

I think the fear of Cozens becoming a star elsewhere scares Adams to death.

Go to the Roster thread, I made a list of players without NTC/NMC (including good vets).

It makes no more sense to wait for the future. We've been waiting, for much better prospects to become stars and that never worked out. You have to say f*** it and at least make the playoffs again. Gimme the playoffs again instead of prospects that may or may not be good enough

How many Sabres GMs have chased this elusive unicorn of drafting a cluster of young players who grow and prosper together into some kind of hockey dynasty that competes for the Cup year after year? Sure it sounds good in theory, but in the real world the Romper Room roster approach has been an utter disaster.

I’m not saying strictly to build for the future, I’m saying it’s impossible to acquire top 6 centers and top 4 RHD without drafting them. You can’t go back in time and fix a decade of ignoring these positions in the draft, but you simply can’t trade away the prospects you do have that fit that mold.
It’s not even about building for the future, it’s about hedging your bets. Everything else, including picks, is up for grabs, but at some point you need to actually have a plan.

Players understand what goes on in the league. They have an understanding of attractive destinations for the most part.

Terry hasn’t made any serious sports team ownership decisions since he’s bought the team.

When the Sabres start to act like a professional sports team, perception of the team will start to change.

I'd rather not fire sale, honestly, specifically the already-paid guys. End the cycle of paying guys here, and sending them to win elsewhere.

Now prospects or elc's? go for it.
