Is 11.5M for the most overrated goalie in the history of hockey the worst contract in history?

I agree with you but i don't think he is trolling. Constantly we see prominent Rangers posters like @mas0764 (i could have picked anyone just first person to come in mind), anyway you'll have Rangers posters like him who are way too over critical of him and that changes the opinions of a few posters, im sorry but it really does


I personally think Lav should probably go, but it's not my say and i'm not going to pretend to be an expert

Honestly, I'm writing this game off with any goalie, although it would have been winnable if we were down 2-0 instead of 5-0 after the first. Carolina game we got shutout and he was mostly decent that game. Every other game we could have won. First Boston game wasn't great, but it wasn't 5 goals with the goalie in net not great and we had 3 goals. He's not just overrated he's BAD. We should be 4-2 or at worst 3-2-1 over this stretch and yet here we are 1-5.

People blaming the team are annoying because for some reason the goalie is the one position that is sacred and always needs a "but the team in front of him!" disclaimer.
 
Shesterkin is one of the best goalies in the league over the last 4-5 years, and the whole rangers team is a dumpster fire this season. Way too early to call this contract.

Henrik was at least legit and consistent every year. Carried them on his back to a cup appearance. Igor is way too inconsistent and is living off of that one incredible season.

I don’t know if this is implying that I’m trolling but if so that’s a bold claim when the team is trying its damndest to prove me 100% right all along.

Unless you are saying I’m over critical of Fox? Hell no I’m one of his biggest fans on here.

I mean Bob took a long time to justify the contract he got and at one point was widely regarded as the worst contract in the NHL. I was never that impressed with Shesterkin though and thought the Rangers should of held firm. Goalies just arent worth that much in todays NHL and are so finicky from season to season.

That's 5 straight games with a save % of less than 0.900 and lost 4 of 5 IN THE MIDDLE OF A PLAYOFF PUSH. Frankly, outside of the Carolina game we could have won 4 of those games with better goaltending. And then today albeit in disgraceful effort by the Rangers he gave up 5 goals on 16 shots in the first period and got pulled. This will be a second time in three games against the *checks notes* Buffalo Sabres he got chased after giving up 5 goals, last time it was on 12 shots.

Shesterkin is a media and fan creation. And the Rangers bottom of the barrell GM was was terrified that he would be letting his Saquon Barkley out the door and bent over backwards for an absolute f***ing bum and gave him the richest contract for a goalie in NHL history.

Shesterkin contract is going to be worst in the league sooner rather than later.

Worst contract in history?

No, not even close. He's earned it and he'll bounce back. He's taken over games before and taken his team far into the playoffs.

I'd take him on my team over EP40. 11.6 for Bambi legs, no fight in him, steers the culture of that team into mediocrity.

Huberdeau's contract means Calgary's rebuild might not be on the table.

Chandler Stephenson's is going to prevent his team from being competitive, likely cost them the ability to sign the players they need to get over the hump.

Damon Severson has 7 years left and has been a healthy scratch.

Bobby Holik signed a 5 year, 9 million contact. Jeff Finger signed a 4 year, 3.5 million contract. Both had major ramifications for the contact structure of the league due to how bad they were for the game.

Signing Tavares created a situation where Marner and Matthews got paid a lot more, that timing hurt the Leafs a lot more than anything.

So so so many worse examples of Shesterkin.
 
Man I am happy Price's contract will be off the books very soon and I hope the Habs learned there lesson paying any goalie that type of contract. It is so crazy because not long ago everyone was basically jealous of the rangers getting two elite goalies back to back.

People have the memory of goldfish. Just last year all we heard was that Bob was inconsistent and past his prime right up until the f***ing semi finals lol.

OP is really saying Shesterkin doesn't deserve his contract because he had 5 bad games of stats.

"For anyone watching the game" yeah, because if you watched the game you would know he wasn't the main reason the team lost and that the stats are misleading.

Possibly the most reactionary post I've ever seen on this forum.
