Interesting NHL Edge Speed Stats - Steven Stamkos the fastest in the NHL??

Howdy, dang I haven't posted a thread in a million years.

Anywho I was perusing the NHL Edge speed stats and noticed a couple interesting speed stats.

I saw McDavid was at the 99th percentile which is the least surprising thing ever, but as I was trying to find other players who I thought might also be in that bracket I noticed:
Dylan Larkin is only at the 74th percentile.
Mathew Barzal is only at the 75th percentile.
I thought both of these guys would be right up with McDavid. Are they both injured?

But by far the weirdest thing I noticed is that Steven Stamkos is somehow at the 99th percentile and has a higher top recorded speed than McDavid this year (24.21 mph vs 23.85 mph). And his recorded speed this year is way faster than the other years NHL Edge has tracked. So what happened? Speed gun error? Typo? Did he get an optimal stick boost from a teammate while he was already at full speed?

Anyone else notice any interesting/contradictory stats with NHL Edge?

All that means is he hit that speed one time, doesn't really mean a whole lot. The more meaningful stat is the number of speed burst over 20mph, of which Stamkos is 82nd percentile. He may not be the same skater he was before the leg injury, but he can still skate and has always trained hard.

My point is that it seems almost seems more likely that there was some kind of error in that speed mark than it is that he actually hit it. He's on the wrong side of injuries and on the wrong side of 30. And he didn't come anywhere close to that mark in his previous seasons. He's not exactly playing in a free flowing state right now either. Though he was a good skater in his younger days, he was never known as a player with incredible top end speed. So it's a very puzzling stat in my eyes.
