that is correct. Instead of the Columbus team being red and the Detroit team blue (as it is for the typical Ohio Stadium rivalry), the colors will be reversed.

I guess that makes sense but it's pretty misleading when you're talking specifically about the Blue Jackets and Red Wings.

“In years past, we were kind of packing it in around the net and allowing teams to have zone time,” Werenski said. “Guys are too good. They’re going to get scoring chances that way. They’re going to score.
“This system has us pressuring guys and forcing them to make a play, and I think that’s the right way to play.”
The Blue Jackets seemed confused in their own zone last season, like they struggled to pick up the hybrid system they were instructed to play. They’d play man-to-man low in the zone and a zone defense when the puck went out high again, and they often seemed flustered.

Does the league try to give bad teams easier schedules? Seems like we have played a decent amount of games where we are coming off 1+ days of rest and the opposition is playing a B2B. Or is that just a coincidence?
Was going to bring up the amount of backups we seem have played against to start the year. I might be wrong.
I’ll vote “coincidence” that evens out moving forward.

Coincidence. This was supposed to be a tough one coming out of the gate based on the who, not the timelines or home/away. Certainly exceeding expectations but the schedule isn't set based on expectations of who will be good or bad. They have to factor in facility availability and the fact you have 32 teams playing across the continent to match up when they may be available to play each team. The only factor that I'm aware of is they try to not have teams go back and forth across the country.

We had damned well be better in 3-5 years so why take on a bad contract that lasts that long?3-5 years ….
KJ, Fantilli, Jiricek, Mateychuk, Chinakov, Marchenko, Sillinger, (potentially)Lindstrom, Brindley, Tarasov. If all of them are with the team they will all be getting their big boy (prime) deals around that 3-5 year mark... If even just a few develop as intended we're gonna need to utilize as much of that cap as possible.
Yes, trades will happen, the cap (hopefully) will continue to rise and we should be able to smoothly transition from a cap floor lottery team into a middle of the pack playoff contender in that time frame. And if we're patient enough, I bet we will be able to capitalize on a big trade in that time frame as well. We have the perfect storm of space, a fully loaded prospect pool and time. We don't HAVE to make a trade now, we just have to be patient enough to wait for the right deal to materialize...whether that's now or in 2-3 years.

I think we all know not to take on bad deals that last more than a couple years.
