I don't think either Schroeder or Ebbett impressed. Hopefully JS gets some decent linemates and he can showcase what he can really do.

Not worried at all about winger depth, Higgins and Kassian were both solid. Weise looks like a solid 3/4th liner.

Sedins - awesome

Edler - Garrison are looking really good. Better than HamJuice.

Barker/Alberts are both terrible. I'm hoping some team waives their depth D and we pick them up and lose Barker. Same mistakes as in EDM. Raymond made Alberts look like an AHLer on the goal.

Lapierre has lost some footspeed IMO.

He also was consistently out of position defensively, behind the play and had 2 penalties. In a real game that gets him benched before he even gets to score that goal.

Yep, if there's one thing we know about AV, he'll go with the player more defensively responsible and it's easily Schroeder at this point. With Booth's injury though, isn't it just as likely they both make the team?

Don't know why but after watching Luongo play I kinna want him to stay as our starting goalie hehehe, I guess I've gotten used to the fact he's been our number 1 for a good 6+ years.

Again if other teams are offering crap rather just keep him.

Yeah I hear ya, why the hell is this city so hard on goaltenders. He just looks so relaxed.

Based on what we've seen so far, I'm thinking it's something like

1. Sedin - Sedin - Burrows
2. Higgins - Schroeder - Hansen
3. Raymond - Lapierre - Kassian
4. Ebbett - Malhotra - Weise

Edler - Garrison
Hamhuis - Bieksa
Ballard - Tanev

Luongo (to start the season)
Schneider

Just want to add that Volpatti had a poor showing. Looks to have slowed down considerably. Too bad Pinizzotto isn't available

AV will NOT decide his regular season lineup based on these scrimmages, will he? :help:

yeah he looks to be the weakest player out there. i thought he played like this last years anyways. He really doesn't show anything unless there are fighting involved.

Haven't seen his name mentioned but i thought Andersson was perhaps the 3rd best defender on Blue. He was very good, his positions, angles, and he knocked away a loose puck in the slot with a quick stick. Made several good outlet passes. I'm starting to think he will be a Canuck far sooner than I ever imagined (not just based on this scrim, but what i've seen in Chicago as well). Just needs some more strengthening.

Note:
-It was Luuuus not Booos, when he stepped on the ice the first time.
-It was Boooos when Raymond went for his SO chance.
-3rd period, it seemed like the players were getting into a bit more and it was much more enjoyable.

I really hope Garrison can help elevate Edler's play to the next level and that Edler can be more consistent. That would be sweet.

Honestly, Henrik's attempt was even worse than trying to pass into the net.

It looked more like he was passing horizontally across the pads. Seriously weird attempt

What else does he have to go on?

I think for a majority of the players who played here last season, he is going to go by reputation and how well he knows them.

A week is not enough time. Other then the 2nd line spot hes forced to (ebbett/schroeder) i think he will stick with what he has done in the past and everyone will be in their usual positions.

And certainly not based on tonights scrimmage alone.

The hundreds of NHL and AHL games these guys have played in their careers, in particular the AHL games this year.

The fact they're playing teammates vs real opposition is your first clue.
