It clearly backfired. I get that hindsight is 20/20, but it blew up in his face.

The bigger fail was re-signing Lindgren when he could've traded him for a pick & found a competent NHL defensemen to replace him in FA.
Maybe. He still was moved with zero retention though.

Not sure what you want me to read. PP1 is has always been most dangerous when Zibanejad and Trocheck, Zibanejad and Panarin, and Panarin and Fox have been moving around. Zibanejad started doing it again - has nothing to do with Lafreniere. What did I miss?
PP1 improvement has a lot more to do with Zibanejad regaining his PP1 form than removal of Kreider for Lafreniere.
The fact that he hadn't started doing it until PP1 changed?
Regaining what form? Mika hasn’t ever been used like this on the power play where they have him leak up top from the bumper spot and shoot from straight on. It’s pretty creative and confused DAL and NJD resulting in a wide open shot attempt with traffic in front both times. The most important thing is that they’ve removed Mika from the half wall where he’s a liability and replaced him with Laf who can just exist there without being a catastrophe when the other team breathes on him. We’ll see how teams adjust and what other lanes open up if they start defending it.

Are we in direct competition with Devs for a spot? This ship has sailed given our difference in standings, so I care about them gaining a loser point as much as I'd care if they were a Western team

It's just the most Ranger shit ever to finally look like an NHL hockey team at the halfway point of the season in a 3 point game against the Devils. Like now, all of a sudden, they care to try and win hockey games just so that we can miss a WC spot on the last day of the season.

I want this organization to commit to something one way or the other. And they should be committing to losing and this season is lost. Why you start Shesterkin in that spot back from IR I have no idea.

Hockey is a physical sport and there are countless things that go into making a championship team that can't be quantified. If it could be they'd just have AI make all of the roster, coaching, etc decisions.

This works if the player who brings those things is actually good or lets say, good enough.

Rempe is not good enough.

That’s the only realistic move for this team. Energy bottom 6 player and if Drury has the balls, trading and upgrading Lindgren.

A Lehkonen or Barbashev type would be great for this team in addition to a top 4 D.
