Injury Report: Injury Thread Pt. II (Del Zotto has surgery to repair sports hernia)

Clowe is huge in a series like this... Washington is playing physical, and we need a skilled physical big man who can answer that. Enough of Erskine putting his stamp on everyone any time they get in the crease.

We can beat Washington without some of these guys, but if we really want to win the cup, we need some real luck when it comes to health.

Given the earlier reports of a potential lower body injury, that sounds to me like hip or lower back.

that makes sense... I thought concussion initially because of the elbow to the face, but in most cases (and the elbowing didn't look very rough) you can skate off the ice by yourself... look at the sauer hit.

He probably tweaked his back which made him dizzy in the head and/or funky in the legs, and therefore is now "hurt"...

whatever it is, its great that he's back on the ice. if it was a serious concussion, we wouldn't see him till round 2

My dad was saying that it looked like back spasms to him. Sometimes, those kinds of spasms don't happen right after an incident, but there can be a delayed reaction.

At least to me, this says Dorsett and Boyle are in, Clowe probable, Staal 50-50.

I would guess that Clowe doesn't play tomorrow, but Dorsett and Boyle will. Staal is a tossup.

When, exactly, is Clowe going to even be cleared for contact and take some hits to see how he feels? Are the Rangers practicing early tomorrow? The game's at 12:30.

So it looks like Dorsett and Boyle will play....Staal as usual is still up in the air, and Clowe hasn't been cleared for contact but may be a go.

He gets a lot of hate around here, but getting Boyle back for game 2 would be huge. Newbs had himself a very nice playoff debut, but is no match for Boyle in terms of faceoff ability, physicality or penalty killing. Just having him eat the PK minutes giving Stepan, Nash, Callahan a bit more rest to play 5v5 will help a lot.

Hope we get to see Dorsett too. Hopefully he can bring some of the energy that was missing from last nights game. Just imagine if the fourth line is Clowe - Boyle - Dorsett and compare that to yesterdays' lineup. Changes the whole complexity of this team.

Clowe can make passes that Pyatt cannot even fathom. No way he's on the 4th line.

Newbs has actually looked good his two most recent call ups. But he's not gonna get anything more than the usual 4th line 5 minutes so it's best he goes out once Boyle comes back in

I'd like to see Clowe ease into it coming back, starting out with fourth line responsibilities. Long term (playoff wise) I agree he's on the 2nd/3rd line.

And I actually think that fourth line could be a real scoring threat.

But if Clowe plays on the fourth line, his primary responsibility is to crash and bang (or be crashed and banged). I am not sure you want to put a player there who's not yet even cleared for a contact practice.

Fair point.

Im going to refer to the Devils fourth line of last year. They did more than crash and bang and that helped them win the series. He will take and give some hits for sure (true no matter which line he's on, but maybe more so on the 4th line), but he will also add passing and skill to the fourth line, with Dorsett and Boyle throwing their bodies around, creating space for him. Dorsett has a pretty good shot and could be able to bang in a couple of Clowe's passes.

If he's still to fragile to take the abuse I don't want him out there at all. Just wait until he's ready to play playoff hockey.

Good news. Getting 2 or 3 of those guys back would be huge. Hoping to see Dorsett and Clowe, I hope they can match Hendricks, Chimera and Ward. Boyle back would be good too, we could need him to get the puck out of our own end.
