Injury Thread '24-‘25 (Post 1 has current injury status)

What’s the outlook on McDavid playing Sunday?
Got tickets just to see him
Might be back tomorrow but likely Friday;

Thankfully for Oilers fans, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman had some good news about McDavid's status on Saturday.

"The word is mid to late next week was the target," Freidman said of McDavid's return on Hockey Night in Canada's Saturday Headlines segment.

5. As some will recall, last Friday NHL insiders Bob Stauffer and Elliotte Friedman spelled out the possible timeline for the return of players. Here’s what they said:

Monday April 7 vs Anaheim Ducks (McDavid possible)
Wednesday April 9 vs St. Louis Blues (Ekholm possible) (McDavid likely)
Friday April 11 vs San Jose Sharks (Ekholm likely)
Sunday April 13 vs Winnipeg Jets (Draisaitl possible)
Monday April 14 vs Los Angeles Kings (Draisaitl likely)
Wednesday April 16 vs San Jose Sharks

With Philp’s recall I’m wondering if the Oilers have backed off on bringing back McDavid for Wednesday’s game. As for Trent Frederic — the fourth Oiler along with Draisaitl, John Klingberg and Mattias Ekholm to return in recent weeks only to again quickly go out with injury — who can say? Coach Kris Knoblauch did say he expects Frederic to be ready for the playoffs. But I no longer put a lot of weight in the return-from-injury timelines of the Oilers.

Jesus Christ this team is gonna miss the playoffs aren't they. Calgary will somehow win all their games at this rate while we ice an ahl line up.

Exactly. If we lose the rest of our games with this depleted lineup, the whole premise of keeping McDrai fresh for the playoffs goes out the window.

If we can't beat the Sharks in one of the 2 remaining games, then we really don't deserve to be in the playoffs.

Connor likely sits the next 2 and then they can retro LTIR him (missed 10 consecutive games) which I believe gives enough cap space to get all the players + Kane back for the last 3 games. Team has a few games to gel before the start of the playoffs, which should be enough to see which 12 forwards make the cut + lines.

I don't believe any of these injuries are real or would take as long as they have to heal. I think this is a great way for management to rest all their top dogs for a (hopefully) long run into June. Plus it gave the lower players more ice time and we can see who has taken advantage.

Zero chance the Oilers miss. Zero.

I don't trust anything this organization says regarding injury time lines. It seems like they just throw shit against the wall to keep the media fed. I'll say it right now, I would not be surprised if at least one, if not 2 or 3 don't even make it back for game one of the playoffs. And the ones that do come back before still have plenty of issues.
