Injury Thread '24-‘25 (Post 1 has current injury status)

I can see a scenario where Ekholm goes on LTIR at some point until the playoffs, and Kane comes back and gets the rust off for a few games. No sense bringing Ekholm back for a game or two like they have been doing and then having him miss another few weeks. At this point just give him all the time we can to heal before playoffs.
If that is what is needed, then I, unfortunately hope they do it for the greater good. Although they really miss him badly and more than I ever thought they would. I don't know if I can stand another 9 straight games of Ty Emberson though.:D

Unless the put someone else on LTIR I don't see how the cap space would allow it. I can't see them waiving a bunch of guys to fit him in.
I could see Ekholm or McDavid sitting out until game 1.

At his age and being a vet, I think that would be the wise choice.
It would only take one. But I don't think that will happen either.
Why not with Ekholm? He sits then comes back for a game and then sits more. Something is definitely not right with him.

Why not? Ekholm has been battling something for almost 2 months now and still isn't 100%. I could easily see them LTIR him for the rest of the year.
It is certainly possible. But both guys tend to be warriors so my guess is that Ekholm will want to play. That said if rest is the cure then it might well make sense to shut him down.

Kind of a weird way of saying this. There is after all only two weeks and a couple of days left so all three could come back on the same day and this would be accurate.
I want to say they are all coming back against St.Louis

The way I parse this is that McDavid is getting close, Skinner is probably as well but Ekholm is a little more uncertain. But who knows. Blues on Wednesday looks like as good a prediction as one could come up with.

Ekky injury seems concerning I can’t lie, they keeping that more under wraps than Connor’s

Yeah Ekholm's injury has been going on for almost 2 months now. That isn't something minor, and the fact he tried coming back and then had to go back out, is doubly concerning. Really doubtful he'll be healthy for the playoffs.

Well if they have any inclination of bringing him back early for any reason I hope they resist. He clearly needs as much healing time as possible. Let’s hope they let him get as close to healthy as he can for when it counts.

Stick both of them in a hyperbaric chamber for 16 hours a day, not sure why Connor is on the trip too.

Stay home and heal bro

He's obviously not ready to play yet, but skating with the team and participating in some drills is not hurting him or setting him back. It's part of the recovery/reintegration process. You can't just have him stay home and sit on a couch or go for leisurely skates around the neighbourhood rink, and then throw him in a game.

I feel like Ekholm has had multiple issues. We know he was pretty sick for a while, then he went to 4N anyways and probably aggravated something.

I wouldn't freak out over the "we'll know more tomorrow", that is a pretty standard answer that almost all coaches gives. Obviously it would be better for him to say that it doesn't appear to be much, but saying we'll know more in a bit on an injury is pretty common. It's just how coaches speak in the moment.
