Injury Thread '24-‘25 (Post 1 has current injury status)

What are the chances McDavid is back by April 3? I’m going to the game either way but was hoping to see Drai and him. Though, I get a 2nd chance on the 16th anyways.
Everything has been kind of quiet on that front. A lot of us think that he's been battling something medical related pretty much all season long. With the playoffs just around the corner if his condition can get better with rest they should be resting him. That said Connor isn't the type that will want to sit out if he can play so who knows?

Honestly, I wouldn't super surprised if McDavid sat out the remainder of the season. Between regular season, pre-season and the 4 Nations, he's already north of 70 games played (72); and that's after a short, emotionally draining summer. This is their one opportunity to rest him and get him healthy.

Plus with Calgary and Vancouver falling off and Vegas going on a heater, it seems like the Oil are more or less locked into another series with LA. The only question there is who gets home ice, and that's likely to be decided on April 5th and 14th.

His wedding festivities probably took more out of him than most people think.:D

I thought

if you go LTIR then you can't play until playoffs? Like Stone, Kucherov, etc.
No, he can be activated anytime if he’s healthy.

I think it’s 10 games or 24 days that you have to be on LTIR, he’s been on much longer.

We only have the cap space to activate him if ekholm or McDavid are out until the playoffs though

I can see a scenario where Ekholm goes on LTIR at some point until the playoffs, and Kane comes back and gets the rust off for a few games. No sense bringing Ekholm back for a game or two like they have been doing and then having him miss another few weeks. At this point just give him all the time we can to heal before playoffs.

I don’t. I just know that the Oilers are desperate to have at least one of McDrai back and Draisaitl has a history of playing through injuries. Playoff spot is now in jeopardy (especially if we lose to Calgary tonight)
Leon didn't look like he was hurting in Saturday's game. Played over 20 minutes, was skating hard, and got stronger as the game went on. Finished no worse for wear, it seems. Maybe he wasn't rushed back?

And I don't think that is going to happen. Maybe one, but not both.
