I thought he left the bubble? If he did, I don't think he can play the series. He would have to wait a minimum of 4 days and pass 4 covid tests.

I'm sure your right on this, as I'm not familiar with all the protocol regarding the Covid virus. I guess he could get in if the series goes 5 games. It's also possible he hasn't left the bubble, and Jet's medical staff, just determined it was a mild sprain or something ? Doubt that tho.

either ay word is we can't expect him back for gamne 2 and if we want to win game 2 we need to put this behind us and focus on game 2. Fans included. I'm having a hard time focusing on anything other than Scheif and Laine but if they are giving us a sliver of hope we need to take that sliver and jam it right into that really sensitive webbing between the toes of the Flames and come out the other side with a 1-1 series. Stay focused, stay out of the box, get in Tkachuks head and turn this series around.

I hope the better news on Scheif proves to be accurate.

Anyone see that we are missing big Buff?!!!!!!!
Hellebuyck may have to start taking opponents out in front of him, aka do "the Billy on 'em" ( Billy Smith) or pull out a full "Hextall-haunting" on 'dem flames.
Might have to dress Stanley and give him a "fire-hose" and an "axe-stick". Let him see "red".

Are you GNP’s alt? :)

I think the key to surviving is really not giving Tkachuk any more space in the players' heads. Deal with him as he comes but don't spend the whole series hunting him, the Flames will revel in us playing distracted.

I agree 100% with this. We are undermanned for the game today so the team needs to not add distracted to the list.

Pull together, play fast, stay out of the box, let the goalie win a game for us.

Very good news waking up to the possibility that Scheifele might not be as badly injured as feared. I take it there isn’t an update on Laine?

Yea I hope it’s true. That would be a major positive development.

Do we know one way or the other if Scheifele had to leave the bubble for an MIR? You would think they would have one in the bubble to avoid players having to go in and out for testing.

I have no idea and it would be nice for a reporter to bring us up to speed. I hope we get more good news today.

i read somewhere that there actually is an MRI machine in the bubble. Not sure if that has any truth or merit. But it does line up with Orlesky talking like him and Laine could technically play. Otherwise they would be out for the series self isolating again

I definitely saw a tweet somewhere that said Scheifele was leaving the bubble to get an MRI, but maybe they're wrong.

Either way it's still good news about Scheifele. It could have been a career altering injury.

MRI machines are big, loud, and potentially dangerous. They have to be kept in specially designed areas to restrict access to the powerful magnetic field. It’s not the kind of thing that could be set up temporarily for the bubble, in a hotel ballroom or some open office space. They’re also very expensive — millions for the machine, plus more for the set up and operation (need skilled technicians and support staff).

So if Scheifele had an MRI, it’s almost certain he left the bubble and went to a hospital or clinic to do so, and is now done for the series, even if he might somehow be able to play through the injury.

They’d have to have some protocols for getting guys to hospital without compromising the bubble. It would be ridiculous if everyone with an injury has to be screened back in.

Screening is the protocol, it's the only way to make sure the players don't have Covid-19.

If somebody has an injury which necessitates going to a hospital, the chances are quite high that they can't play until they've had the requisite negative tests anyways. They have doctors and facilities inside the bubble to treat minor injuries.

It sounds a little bizarre but they actually do get installed in trailers that can be rented for events like this. I'm skeptical of the NHL having the forethought to actually consider that an injury could require an MRI for a short-term injury though.

They're similar in size to a broadcast trailer and tend to be similarly unimpressive looking

I kind of lost focus after Scheifele apparently hurt himself badly, but now it's a completely new game. With or without couple of the best guns, I expect Jets to fight.

It's an uphill battle, but it's about pride. No excuses.
