I would like to apologize for my comments on the main board. This was not a strong hockey play. It was not a clean hit and I'm surprised that Pacioretty did not get suspended.

I hope McDo will be alright and I wish Girardi a quick recovery. Gallagher had a concussion (could not remember his name, the city he was in and that he scored in the game) after being boarded by Luke Schenn but he only missed 1 game. I hope McDo has the same fast recovery.

You guys are good, classy fans (unlike Bruins and Leafs fans) and you have every right to be mad at the hit. I would be mad too if it was Subban who got hit and injured like this.

Thanks for this. There's so much stupidity on the mainboard that it can get frustrating (from TOR/MTL/NYR fans in particular), posts like these are refreshing.

Of course it is, but that doesn't mean it's always controllable. If the leaving of the feet does happen and it occurs as part of the contact, then it is not a dirty play... it's just a function of physics.

What is controllable though is slowing down so that you're not flying into another player with enough force to cause you to jump.

He didn't hit him that hard. It's more often the angle of the hit that causes the skates to come up.

Which is why it was a boarding penalty, not a malicious charge and hit to the head.

You mean Paccioretty positioning himself so that he can hit him with the side of his body/elbow? He didn't have to skate into him at that angle. There is an argument to both sides. At that body positioning it is unavoidable that he'd have to leave his skates. He could have stayed at his natural body position too and not had to leave his skates at all either. He could have stick checked him with the knowledge that many players get boarded and seriously hurt. There is no reason that a player going into the boards should result in blood, ever. I'm all for physical play, and a good hit to me is when you go up against someone who is aware and its whoever gets the better of the other person. But hitting someone who is in an awkward position, or defenseless, or unaware is not the definition of a clean hit.

Don't get me wrong, i'm not one to defame other teams and excuse when we do something stupid, but that hit was dirty.

But... as previously said on this thread, the only thing sadder than the lack of disciplining for this is the lack of response by any of the Rangers.

Agree to disagree. You have your opinion, I have mine. Most people tend to get into arguments with one another because they try to convince the other person they are wrong. You saw the play one way and I saw it another way.

On principle, to avoid head injuries, taking runs at players could be prevented or at least discouraged by suspensions on even marginal hits on the board. In my opinion, given this players reputation and also his clear intent to get a "payback" hit on a particular player warrants a suspension alone.

As for the retaliation, thats a part of any team dynamic. It shows team unity and also shows that you will not be bullied. Gaborik and Richards get absolutely bullied and no one does anything about it and its sad that players that should warrant a lot of respect in the league are allowed to get bullied and potentially injured do to a team's lack of solidarity.

I find it funny people said we dont need Rupp and Asham and Bickel in the lineup and now we are saying we want guys that will stick up for teammates...............first off Powe is waaay better for this team than Rupp, they actually have a 4th line when healthy...............Asham would of killed a Hab but he was hurt,,,,,,,,not sure why Bickel didnt do something , why is he playing then?
