It’s been ridiculous lately, when Boston gets outplayed and they win its grit and a sign of a great team. When we do it our own “fans” flock on here to bitch how bad we are and say shesty should be sat for halak…..
Boston got outplayed one time by a good 5v5 team. The Rangers got outplayed by the Laval Rocket and have been outplayed quite often lately albeit with a shorthanded roster to be fair. But you are ignoring important context here.

Two points is two points.

Thanks for playing and drive home safely.
100%. It’s game…what? 65? The season is too long. The roster has been shaken up pretty significantly in the past couple weeks. Guys are banged up. Not to mention…the core of this team has shown us they can pull it together in the playoffs.
Everyone knows this match was ugly. But we’ve been here before. This part of the season is all about staying healthy and getting ready for the real season. It’s almost like spring training for a team like the rangers. Like it or not, that’s where we are.
As @Machinehead said, there were positives too. The Kid Line looked good. Miller had a lot of energy and looks determined to skate the puck up the ice. That’s a new weapon.

Back to back late afternoon games coming up. 3 of next 5 are against the Pens.

Live look-in on the schedule maker

Erm. Bettman doesnt actually *make* the schedule. It’s this guy, Reid Something-or-other.

It's really weird. It's only gotten worse. The funny part is everyone had the same complaints last season at this time. And guess what, the team elevated their play in playoffs and looked damn good. People don't realize how hard it is to stay focused in an 82-game season, especially when your playoff spot is all but assured.
Yep. like it or not, the team has become veteran-heavy. They’re gonna do what they have to do game-to-game with one eye on the playoffs.
The all-homegrown-dream-team dream is gone. We can hang our HF hats on a young D and a Kid Line and some decent Bottom Six prospects coming along. But this is our reality now. I’m fine with it.

Going to be a bumpy ride to the playoffs with how the roster has been shaken up. Hopefully they manage to find themselves for when the games matter more.

We've seen it time and time again though, that limiting opponent's opportunities is how you win in the playoffs; not many teams can run and gun for a seven game series and get away with it. They've got some work to do to get back to the team they were a month ago, but if they can find that gear with Tara and Kane on the roster, then it could be a heck of a run.

Sure take the 2 points of course, but

The team looks very disjointed, for the amount of talent on the 4 lines they just look no one knows what do to do when they have the puck

Shesty sort of redeemed himself this game, but this version isnt going to cut it. He's not played great most of the season.

What is with this team and giving up a goal early in the first period? Happens almost every game now

My biggest gripe is that I feel like Drury didnt do anything at the deadline to acquire a veteran D. The defense being one injury away from having Mikkola on the top pair and Harpoon take a regular rotation isnt going to cut it

Good way for Kaner to redeem himself after that woeful giveaway. Hopefully his jitters went away after finally getting a goal. Need him to settle in here.
I screamed at the TV to get them off the ice but not going to lie Kane sniping that goal and redeeming himself was pretty awesome. If he’s going to be a gamer like that in the playoffs I’m excited.

It’s a fairly simple fix for the team. Work on passing and figure out what is causing these awful breakdowns. Guys are either caught standing still in the neutral zone or the D gets caught up ice. Not 3-4x per game but 3-4x per period.

Not totally accurate tho - he hadn't had the hands to the face after being done.
That was just disappointment from not being able to make all next 5 games against the Pens due to a system fail safe.

People need to chill out. Was that fugly? Hell yea, but a win is a win. Let's hope this starts something. Canes had to go to a shootout with Montreal, and they won tonight 1-0 over Philly. Win the dang game and let's move on. This weekend is big for this team. They know that.

Kreiders gotten a free pass for a little bit.

He’s been as bad as anyone lately. Effort wasn’t there at all aside from one shift and the one shift he gave a shit was maybe the teams beat shift of the game.
OK. He lead the team in hits before reinjuring his leg. I’ll give him a pass.

This team got worse after the trades. Are we convinced they are just going to flip a switch come playoff time? We had no business getting outplayed by a thoroughly depleted Montreal. But guess what? We did and we're fortunate to come away with two points.

I'm sorry but this team hasn't given me the optimism I want to have as we close in on the playoffs.

Carolina can afford that though. We have teams breathing down our necks in the standings because we can't put wins together to separate ourselves.
