Info re inserting animated gifs and videos and attachment info

I am trying to find out the maximum file size for inserting animated gifs and videos

Also what file formats can be inserted for images and for video?

re attachments
I tried to attach a .mkv file but it was refused - and an info box listed the approved attachments:
.zip
.txt
.pdf
.png
.jpg
.jpeg
.jpe
.gif
.apk
.xml
.csv
.doc
.docx
.xls
.xlsx
.mp3
.mp4

but the extensions after .mp4 were obscured by the mkv file that failed

what are the other approved extensions?

iirc, if you want to embed a video, you have to drag and drop it into the message from your computer. At least thats how WEBM works for me, never tried with other video formats.
