No Byram was very good with the exception of the gold medal game. It was the other 2 pairings that were a bit disappointing.

He was actually great in the gold medal game as well, even if we didn’t get any results out of it. He was named Canada’s Player of the Game, by the way.

I'm good with the selections.

Personally find it odd that Niemela was Best Defenseman and Heinola was on the All Star Team, but bygones be bygones.

On the surface it seems like it doesn't make that much sense, but I've come to realize that it's good to spread out the accolades. They were both excellent in this tournament.

Same with Stuetzle and Zegras. Glad they both can take home a top player award.

Byram, Drysdale, Heinola, Niemela, and York were the best D in the tournament. But they want to spread it out a little, giving it all to Byram and Drysdale fails to recognize other players.

For the record, the spreading out of the awards was not intentional. It’s just a different group of voters with differing opinions. Still, it worked out nicely though.

I imagine Niemela will be the only honouree to be back next year. I think Stutzle is the only other one eligible but I'm pretty sure he'll be in Ottawa.

I think Zegras, Cozens and Stutzle made the forward selections pretty obvious. Definitely room for arguments on defense but all those guys played great. Drysdale was also really good.

I would add Nemac as an HM there. Impressive for a 16 year old.
