I think it is time they give Novak a look up here as well. I know it seems like we have an abundance of prospects who are ready to move to the next level to see if they can take the next step. We do have an abundance because they've hardly brought anyone up for any significant role for the last couple seasons. It's been recycled veterans instead of pulling up young guys who would have some real NHL time under their belt at this point in their career. The window for a guys "best" hockey is moving lower.

Novak seems to hold his own on faceoffs in the AHL. I saw that in his one PO game in 18-19. He was better than some of the other centers that had played during the regular season. He must be fairly strong for his size. He is also a good passer in the AHL. I can see him as a 15 G and 30 A player in the NHL. He would help in those games where the Preds win 35% of faceoffs.

A bunch of guys should be getting long, consistent looks after Granlund, Haula, Cousins, Richardson and maybe even guys like Jarnkrok or Sissons are traded.

Any chance Ingram gets a game in soon in the AHL?
I don't think any of us have any insight into what he was able to do during rehab, so it's kinda impossible to predict the timeline. But we'd be at least hopeful he gets back in gameshape soon-ish and gets a start for the AdWolves. Then I guess it just depends on how that goes. I wouldn't "expect" him to play for the Preds this year, but it would be a bonus if he got back in form and got a chance later this year at some point. :dunno:

Just really depends I think. If he gets several starts in the AHL and looks like he did last year I could see him getting a look, especially if Saros continues to be injured. We are going to need to rest Peks, you can see it in his play, dude is just wore down.

Funny that you mention wore down. Of course he’s wore down. This wasn’t the plan. Saros was to be #1 with Pekka getting a heavier than usual back up games.
What’s funny is the Preds insist on wearing him down in losses. Just give anybody a game in goal. What s the worst thing that can happen? A loss?
Gee, we seem to be losing with a worn down Pekka. Who’s making these coaching decisions? Do they think he’s going to just get over being tired? This ain’t rocket surgery!

This past Friday's and tomorrow's games against Grand Rapids have been postponed due to the Wolves not meeting the AHL Covid protocol. Chicago also recalled a goalie from the ECHL, so makes me wonder if one of the goalies (Ingram or Warm) was connected to the protocol violation.

It's interesting how something like Tanner Jeanots late development happens. He's older, but still putting up big numbers on a team stacked with good prospects. I didn't notice him much when he came up, but it seems like he'd be worth a longer look if he keeps producing. Is anyone getting to watch him aside from highlights? I was curious how much skill he has. He was playing top line with Novak and Tomasino last game.

His offensive game in Milwaukee improved a little after he was told to stop fighting so much. It took about a season. In 2018-19, he averaged 0.30 PPG. In 2019-20, he averaged 0.35 PPG. This year it is 1.70 PPG! I think that playing on the top line has helped him immensely. He is averaging 3 PIMs a game, double last year and triple from 2018-19. I haven't seen him play this year.

Jeannot's numbers this year are incredible. What I found most surprising straight out of the gate is that whatever Chicago saw from him in their training camp, they straight away put a letter on his jersey. They don't have a fixed captain, but he has been an "A" from Day 1 while they have cycled the other A's around. That says something too. He walks onto another organization's roster, when they have no reason whatsoever to promote him or distinguish him from the generic depth grinder we had him pegged as previously, and suddenly instead they put him on a top line ahead of their own guys, and with a leadership role?

I have no first-hand insight whatsoever into what Jeannot is doing this year, but the circumstantial evidence is definitely impressive, anyway.
