Very sad to hear about this, my condolences to his family. As an Oiler fan I could always appreciate Johnnys talent in the old battle of Albertas.
RIP Johnny

Here's another former Flame that died tragically as well.

Here's a song wrote about him, and it applies today as well!

Columbus fans, and more importantly, Johnny Hockey fans.

Really devastated to hear this news today. Take care of each other, folks.

As a dad to a toddler myself, this is unfathomable for the family. It hits so hard. Still feels like there’s no way this can be real. Feel so horrible for his family.

Truly can’t believe I’m saying this but RIP to Johnny and Matthew. Johnny’s time here was far too short but I will remember it for forever now.

Legit devastated right now...took off work and going to swing by nationwide to pay my respects before I head out of town. Life's not fair. Sean came to play with his old buddy and now those two kids wont have a father growing up.

ALL BECAUSE SOME f*** DECIDED TO DRIVE DRUNK! UBER EXISTS! USE IT! NO EXCUSE FOR THIS!

I keep thinking about the All-Star weekend in Columbus, when Ryan Johansen (then a Jacket) brought the team trainer's kid out on the ice for his shootout challenge, and then Jake Voracek (then a Flyer) came over and did the same with Johnny (then a Flame, of course, maybe a rookie?). I was right behind the bench and Johnny had no idea at first what Jake was up to but then went along with it and they all had huge smiles on their faces.

my best friend is a CBJ fan and she is torn apart. I’m horn for the human not the hockey player. I feel bad for their families and I am sad for the two brothers who lost their lives. To all of you, you have my thoughts. But right now I am thinking about their families.

As for the organization, I used to work in sports. This hurts you spent this day grieving, but then you treat us as a moment of strength. Let the tears fall their poison to the soul anyway and you don’t need them. Next day you get up and build. Right now just focus on the tears let them all out.

I have had a frightening phenomenon for a while now of nightmares seeming too real even after I wake up.

Last night's nightmares repeatedly featured me "waking up", opening my laptop, and seeing this news confirmed. Several times, to the point where I had to forcibly will myself to wake up.

Based on that I'm still not sure if I can even believe this right now. If I come back in a half hour or so and this post is still here...
Literally what I've been feeling all morning. That one of these times it's gonna be announced that it's all just a big sick joke.
