Pre-Game Talk: In like a Lion, out like a Lamb... 1 more at home, then 3 game roadie. Flamers, B2B at CBus/Hawks, and at B-Lose

Makar has 8 games left to score 3 goals and become the first dman in the last 17 years to score 30 goals.

Yup, I mentioned it a few days ago how rare the company is!

Only 1 defenseman has hit 30 goals scored in the past 32 years; Mike Green with 31 in 2008-09. Before that, it was Kevin Hatcher in 1992-93.

Bobby Orr - 5 times
Paul Coffey - 4 times
Denis Potvin - 3 times
Phil Housley - 1 time
Doug Wilson - 1 time
Ray Bourque - 1 time
Kevin Hatcher - 1 time
Mike Green - 1 time

I hope Bednar just keeps what is working on top 6 to really get that chemistry going and not f with the lineup.

I really hope Kivi gets healthy again to slot in that 3rd line spot since Wood is god awful and cant pass/score and Kivi is basically the scorer in that line.

Middleton is passable in regular season and I kinda like what he does, but propably better to have Manson back in the playoffs even I hate his risk taking in the offensive zone.

Other than that just keep the lines what they are to the end.

I hope Woods split the games in net until playoffs.

Bednar is doing what he’s supposed to do and that is testing out multiple combinations while he has the luxury to do so.
Once the playoffs start, injuries are everywhere and building up chemistry for the same top 6 for the rest of the regular season does you no good unless you can guarantee no injuries.

He needs to be sure that players can play with anybody, because, simply, they will likely need to.

This is where PO experience shows in your preparation. It’s not as though the Avs are fighting for a PO spot or looking to Improve on their seeding. Get healthy. Make sure you can roll four lines. Try different combinations of players.

Exactly. The reality is, IF the Avs go on a long run, they are highly likely to go through many different versions of line combos. The nature of the playoffs pretty much guarantees that.

So it’s great if Drouin-Mack-Nuke and
Lehky-Nelson-Necas develop great chemistry. But they’re likely going to end up moving around over time. So the top 9 needs to be somewhat comfortable with each other top 9 player.

Per TMV, EJ in for Middleton, Vesey in for Woodbrain
