I'm not saying not to, I just find the cycle amusing and it's more of a commentary about how fans forget the good a GM did near the end of their tenure, not an indictment of Conroy. "In Sutter we Trust: and Treliving being a "Wizard" were common themes early in their tenures and then people conveniently ignore their good moves early on.

I love Conroy, he was one of my favorite players and I was fully on board with wanting him to be the next GM when Treliving left, He put in his time learning the management side and got involved in all aspects. He also got to work for 3 different GMs and has another former GM as his PoHO, that is a lot of experience and different views to absorb information from.

Based on the Vancouver trade(s) today, Conroy got more for Kuzmenko (and Pelletier) than Vancouver got for JT Miller (imo). lmao

Conroy will bring glory to the Flaming C once more.

Maybe even more than the early promising returns on his GMing what I really appreciate about Craig Conroy is that he is invested heavily in the Calgary Flames and has been for most of the last twenty years. He knows what the team means to the fans in this city and he knows the faces that have been important working on improving the team. He's the guy to get everyone pulling that metaphorical rope in the same direction.

I admit I had some reservations about him and Huska as internal hires from a franchise famous for their mediocrity. They both have quelled those fears this season. Another guy who I think deserves a lot of credit is Brad Pascal, the way the Flames have been able to graduate players from their suddenly successful farm team has a lot to do with him. I can finally see a big picture position being taken by the Flames' front office and I'm very excited about that. It is going to take some exceptional management for a small market Canadian team to have success in the NHL, and while clearly we need to see some more positive results to be convinced I'm buying what the team has been selling lately.

I remember last year everyone was asking "Why did we take so many D prospects and 4-6 D in all the trades". This year, one of those "bottom pairing D" (Bahl) has proven a reliable top 4 guy. Pachal has been fairly effective and a good presence on the third pairing (even if he is out of place in the top 4). Guys like Grushnikov, and Brzustewicz are playing decent roles on the farm team. Miro was okay last year, though this year is rough. If we didn't have that kind of depth, our Farm team would likely be significantly worse, and the Flames would have Barrie or Bean (possibly both?) in every single game. And while not every one of them is going to pan out, Bahl has been amazing, Grush and Brzu are both likely to see the NHL (and hopefully with the Flames). We may not always see the picture, but as it stands, Conroy has been following his plan (get younger, get skill, make trades where it makes sense in getting younger/skill). In Connie was trust (at least until he gives us reason not to trust him).
