You know we aren't Seattle, right? I'm happy for Kakko, hope he keeps playing well, but that wasn't what he was doing here. THAT'S what makes the post funny. You know he got 13 points in 15 games in seattle, right ?

Tbh them not giving a shit was just some convenient excuse for why they played like shit for 20 games, instead of the more simple explanation of “they’re just playing like shit”.We can hope for a Playoff push while also selling secondary assets and making medium-to-long-term hockey trades. Look at the Caps.
It's the price we've paid for rentals at previous deadlines that everyone's wary of - and rightly so.
Was at the game last night. This group gives a shit and is ready to turn the corner.
Its not just thats hes better, he's better in the area we desperately needed to be better in. Defense. Kakko wasnt contributing anything noteworthy for us. Kakko sometimes might have a breakaway, like in the playoffs last year but then he'd just have the opponent steal the puck from him. He was a choke artist imo. Borgen is tough as nails, a big physical presence, clears the puck and laughs after getting boarded by a big guy. Hes just what we need when we needed it. The people criticizing the Kakko Borgen trade really had their heads up their asses bc were a far better team with him and without Kakko.Yeah. We know. No one shuts up about it. Borgen is still better.
I actually like him i just want him to play hockey and not get drawn into BS or get suspended. Last night was an amazing game for him. Whether it's a one off or a sign of things to come IS a complete unknown. Here's hoping it's the latter. There are people here who don't like Rempe saying OK, now do that 29 more times and maybe I'll come around.
Igor must be in skates and Rempe in socks because there is no way they are this close in height.
It was our 3rd game in 4 nights too and we went to OT both games. The 4th line was excellent last night. Carrick was a truly underrated FA signing this year. He really elevates the 4th line, and has nice chemistry with Edstrom. Aside from being offsides on one of the disallowed goals, Rempe really stepped up and did what we need him to do on a regular basis. He was physical without going overboard, stood up when he needed to, and scored a goal.
Igor is a maniac, and I love it. When he charged right after Brady after appearing to be hurt, that was a thing of beauty. He was dialed in from the start!
I watched the Senators broadcast (TSN), because I like Gord Miller, and the audio/video quality is far superior to MSG's. You can actually hear the crowd noise/goal horn/etc. But they were talking about how this was Ottawa's 3rd in 4 nights, and they had another 3 in 4 coming up starting Thursday, so they were visibly worn out. And apparently Travis Green's record on challenges is excellent this season, he's only been wrong once I think.
Well done boys, let's keep it up!
LOL I liked how hockey pants hid my love handlesZib never taking that shirt off with Rempe right next to him
I know.
People like me don’t want them to lose to “be right” ; it’s the only way to see meaningful change.
We don’t see the point in scratching a clawing to desperately get the 8th seed and then lose in the 1st round again.
You make the point that's being missed. Borgen solves a need, while Seattle is benefiting from a productive Kakko. Both sides win the trade and that's actually allowed contrary to belief. We can keep dissecting the reasons why Kakko failed here but it won't change one damn thing here. People are forgetting that Borgen is not replacing Kakko but is replacing the one they call Jacob Trouba, who when paired with Miller contributed to one of the worst D pairs in team history. Now with Borgen, Miller has improved as well. The benefits are amplified. Its not just thats hes better, he's better in the area we desperately needed to be better in. Defense. They made the changes we should have made last summerLike last year? Oh wait that was the Caps, where are they this year?
The problem is twofold : you need to get a lot more value out of a 2nd overall pick, and Will Borgens are always available and relatively easy to acquireYou make the point that's being missed. He hit a grandslam with the Trouba trade. Imagine having Trouba on this team for 8 million plus or whatever for this year and another? That should have cost us a pair of 2nd's to get rid of himIt's bringing up 2OA when it's convenient. I think we're unanimous in our analysis that he was never a fit here because of the team's personnel makeup and play style. But we can't change what happened, which is his performance here was more like a second-rounder or late first if we're being generous. It's market value, what the market determined for a player with that type of performance. No one saw 2OA plastered on his forehead when considering a trade with the Rangers.
As for Will Borgen, the Rangers are not a team that chases available and easy-to-acquire players to make them the 2RD. They would've gone after a big-name but square-peg player to fill a round 2RD hole here. A guy like Borgen coming here and becoming 2RD only happens via a semi-desperate trade to get rid of benign cyst/potential malcontent that was Kakko and fortunate happenstance in part to Drury's claim that he eyed Borgen for a while.
No one can tell me that Borgen and Vaakanainen haven't helped the team more than Trouba and Kakko. So far, they have shown that Drury has won on those trades.

Looks like Jared Leto lolZib never taking that shirt off with Rempe right next to him
Now, now. Don't get your hackles up.Who cares if he wasn't a 2nd overall pick? He didn't play like a 2nd overall pick. Maybe the teams trading Yakupov should have gotten more value.
