Sure it's a me problem, but you'd think getting called out constantly by your own teams fanbase for making bad offers would make you realize you're not good at it.
You picked the wrong forward an defenseman from the Devils. The two that should be asked for in return are the Hughes brothers.
I mean if the Isles were serious about moving Ilya and wanted to maximize their return they would know neither of the Hughes brothers are for sale.
The issue is that the return would have to be worth it to make the Islanders better. Trading Sorokin would have to start with an upgrade the top line and give them a proven consistent 40 goal scorer on a respectable deal with term. Teams aren’t giving that up. A 1st in a weak draft, prospect and ok roster player just won’t get it done. Especially with Lou as the GM.
Well, if the isles are trading sorokin then they’re probably shifting or rebuilding. Getting a cornerstone potential 1D in Nemec, a potential top 6 in Holtz and a top ten pick is substantial. And I have absolutely no skin the game.
Holtz is an RFA (who’s had a whopping career high of 28 points this year) so unless he comes with an extension and a magical upgrade to his career, he’s not of interest. He looks more like Anthony Beauvillier than a top six scoring threat.

They are bad offers, just because you came almost close one time doesn't make up for the 100's of times you've been waaaaaaaaaay out to lunch.
