Mikheyev has always been a fine 3rd liner dating back to his time in Toronto.

He doesn't have the offense to play a scoring role or support scoring role. He's not a natural finisher hence why he's a 3rd liner. He does bring a lot of speed though.

He'll be fine next year and can be flipped before his contract ends for another 2nd.

Like the deal, but wonder what the return would have been if VAN didn't have to retain.

Also, like the pick is 2027. Space out the extra picks and have additional capital to use for deals when the team is hopefully turning the corner.

this is great trade for KD IMO they would have been tied for 3rd and 4th for EV goals on the hawks last year. and they played 14 and 12 mins per game. Massive upgrades over Reese, Mckenzie raddysh. plus they are both + skaters and league Avg size wise or better 6-1 and 6-3

This would be a pretty tough offseason for CHI if it played out like this.

If Chicago is taking on the last 2 years of that Trouba contract, they aren't doing it while giving up a 2nd round pick just to move up 20 spots. That's nuts.

They're also not signing Samsonov or giving a player like Roslovic term beyond two years.

The Hawks need to see what they have in some of these young players they've drafted. You're not going to gift-wrap them spots but you shouldn't be actively blocking them either. Maybe Nazar and Slaggart start the year in Rockford, but there should be spots on the team for them to earn.

What kind of offseason are you looking for?

Troubas an effective player that makes too much. He can be traded with retention next year to recoup that 2nd.

Why are they not signing Samonov? Sure give Roslovic 2.

Like Anthasiou Anderson Donatos or Halls next year? They can be up with any injury this year. Or you play Nazar a full year in the AHL. Slaggert isnt some big time prospect thats being blocked if he beats out Anderson send him down.

End up with Demidov Helenius and Emery and its a tough offseason FOH

Trouba was completely ineffective for NY in the playoffs and that's why they want to move him. Maybe that was mostly injuries, maybe it was the start of an early decline but that's why they want to move him. At 8M per for the next two years you don't take on that contract just to move up 20 spots in the draft. Again, that's crazy. You can't even bank on retention because if he plays the next year and a half like he did for NY in the playoffs, what team is going to want him, even at 4M per?

Why would they sign Samsonov? The dude had a -15 GSAA last year playing behind a good team. What would he have done if he were here in CHI? Soderblom had a -23 GSAA. Is that even an upgrade? Might as well just run it back with Soderblom as the backup if you're going to sign a guy who struggled almost as badly as Soda last year.

The point with the prospects is that this is exactly the time you want to use seeing how some of these guys perform in the NHL; to find out what you have in them. Opportunities should be given to the Kaisers, Allans, EDMs, Nazars, Dachs, Slaggerts etc. to showcase themselves and find roles in the NHL. We don't need to go vet-heavy right now. Yeah the roster needs some upgrades but this is still a rebuild.

We dont care about the cap for 2 years. Your moving up with Wirz money. Plenty of teams would like Trouba at 4 million as a deadline UFA move. Possible double retention. Hes still effective hes just playing 21 min a night instead of the 17-18 he should.

So whos your solution for backup? Hes 27 and had a .919 SV% a year ago and has played well in the past before that. He can split with Mrazek and try to get a bigger contract on the other side. Hes far better then Soderblom.

Sure if they earn them they can have them. If Slaggert or Nazar cant beat out Anderson or Donato or push someone else down the lineup then they dont deserve it. Plus injuries. Same with the D.

What kind of offseason are you expecting?

Samsonov is a better goalie than Soderblom. He's not a saviour or anything like that, but he would be an improvement over the corpse that was Soderblom. No doubt that Samsonov struggled to begin the year last year, but he was pretty respectable in the last half of the year. (0.33 GSAA in his last 25GP) Wouldn't be my goalie of choice to sign, but he is better than Soderblom.
