IIhf womens world under 18 championships

I've seen on twitter that TV ratings were high in Sweden

975 000 viewers I think the commentator said now. That's very high. (Sweden total population is 10 million, and the game is sent on a slightly obscure - but still available to anyone here - tv channel.)

Attendance in the arena I think he said 2 700 or something. Sellout, I believe.

And the MVP Nela Lopusanova is also the youngest (or near youngest), being just 14 years old among players up to 17 years old (or 18 if they got the celebrate their 18th birthday during the last two weeks). She scored one of the tournament's most spectacular goals, a Zorro/"Michigan" goal.

It may be the right choice. But she played her five games against teams eventually ranked 8th (Japan), 7th (Switzerland), 2x5th (Czech) and Sweden. No games vs Canada, USA or Finland. So it was easier for her to dominate and get good stats in her games that it was for the top-4 teams' players.

I think a lot of this evens out when you factor in that she was playing for Team Slovakia.

Congratulations to the Canadians!

Also, congratulations to the Swedes. While that was a tough way to lose the final, the tournament’s still a huge plus overall and provide some promise that the future of Swedish women’s hockey is looking bright, following the free fall since the 2006 Olympics.

So Lopusanova can still play 3 more times in this tourney? She keeps this up she's easily the tourney's all time best scorer. Plus she's bound to get better considering her very young age.

She better to move to Finland or Sweden for next season, those leagues would be better for her career progression. Then to NCAA when she's 18/19.
