You really need to chill dude. This response is so unhinged. If what's meant to be entertainment is making you this emotionally unstable maybe you should take a step away.

I'm not going to get into a pissing match on the actual topic since I'm sure whatever logic/facts I throw out would just be overridden by emotion.

Yes, I have strong emotions about this team. And yes about the guy making the most amount of money on this team being shit 90% of the season. There is no logic. When you make 11.5M your bar is not to be as good as the defense in front of you. And he's not even that. And I'm sure I wouldn't get all of these posts in Mika/Kreider/Lindgren's defense if I dared criticize them.

You're not some kind of martyr for criticizing Igor. But I do believe that he has never been given the opportunity to actually play behind a defense that is properly constructed and we have no idea how he'd perform in such a situation. Our defense is atrocious.

The same cannot be said for Mika/Kreider/Lindgren, all of whom have been given the utmost opportunity to play in supportive situations. Mika and Kreider have been gifted endless time with our top units/icetime/players. Lindgren has been absurdly paired with our best D-Man since Brian Leetch for years and years. If those guys cannot perform in those situations, there is no hope for them.

And again your strong emotions are fine, what's not fine is your unhinged and disrespectful approach to interacting with those who don't see 100% eye to eye with you. This is an internet forum, we all want the best for the team, but disagreements are bound to happen otherwise we wouldn't sit here and discuss anything. Learn to treat people with respect.

If Igor needs a great defense in front of him to be an effective goalie, he should not have signed for 11.5M period. It's like Alex Smith signing the richest contract in QB history. He's never had a shutdown defense but they've been good enough not to see his disappearing act for half the season every year. The defense this year was trash but it got better. And he's still trash. In the last three games where he gave up 14 goals we haven't given up more than 26 shots.

Also, in 2021-22 the defense was as bad as any that I remember and he won the Vezina. He has the ability but not the mental fortitude to play behind a defense that isn't elite.

If it's because of the defense why does he give up so many softies?

Kinda funny to me that this guy was demanding to be the highest paid player on the team because he viewed himself as the best player on the team while everyone spent 2 months crying about Kreider and Zibanejad being locker room cancers.

Like how did this guy and Panarin somehow skate by with their reputations intact? Because they give fun quirky “aw he’s so Russian” answers in post game interviews?

My theory is similar as to why you don't hear coaches ever say our goaltending was bad. A lot of people have a soft spot for goalies because they feel like criticizing goalies absolves the team.

Do you guys know who this "everything needs to be perfect before we blame him" take reminds me of? For YEARS that was what people said about Daniel Jones. If everything needs to be perfect around you, you're not a starter, certainly not a superstar the way we paid him.
