Rinse. Repeat.

Rangers fans make stupid threads in the trade boards the last month.

We aren't trading him. Control your emotions. The amount of Rangers fans who are blaming him, when he's been arguably our best player this season getting hung out to dry game after game by a bunch of skaters who've completely quit, is ridiculous. How dare a team try to sign one of their superstars. Just insane some people believe the way to be good is to eliminate all that is good.

He's like the least of our problems.

Have you seen NHL GM's? Someone would give him that exact deal if he was a UFA even after his play fell off. Just not sure they give a ton of value to acquire him with that deal.
You guys are nuts haha. Theres very few teams who wouldnt trade significant assets for that contract. Only reason i even started this thread is the speculation NYR might wanna totally blow it up and igor doesnt want a rebuild

Can you name a goalie who returned "significant assets" in a trade before? The first challenge is finding a team who fits the window of his age and has the cap space

Can you tell me the last time a consensus top 3 goalie was traded in their prime with term?

Can you tell me the last 12M+ player traded?

Cory Schneider is really the only one in recent times.

9th overall that was used to pick Horvat.

I think this would be what it looks like. A draft pick, or a few picks / prospects , and cap going back. But I don't define that as significant to be honest.

As a % of cap, the closest would be huberdeau. Who returned quite a haul.

Wrong. He was in his last year of a contract with a cap hit of 5.9mil.
It was effectively a sign and trade considering he signed that without ever having played a game for calgary.

Hey! This is very misleading and dishonest
So if rantanen was traded for igor and then signed an 8 year extension before ever playing a game for nyr it would be misleading and dishonest?

Not saying its gonna happen but its a fair equivalent

His NMC doesnt kick in until after this season and itd be a totally cut throat thing to trade him however if he were to be moved with 8 X $11.5 what would the value be?
Whatever Braden Holtby's worth was in 2017-18 when he was 28 and just coming off 3 amazing seasons in a row, but clearly having a down year where everyone in Fantasy hockey took him #1 among goalies and complained. With about the same expected trajectory downhill.

My league mate in a keep 5 league traded Holtby for Nate Mackinnon+ in December of that year and we called him crazy

That SAME league mate just traded Shester away for a big return mid November. He ALWAYS seems to know when to cash in

Except its not. The new contract was signed 12 days after the trade. The only sign and trade in the history of the NHL was Tkachuk.
Gotcha. I’m sure calgary wasnt allowed to talk to huberdeau’s agent and agreeing on things before the trade went through.

Youre totally right.

Nobody is going to bail Drury out of that contract

Someone always bails the Rangers out of a bad contract.

Hubey was traded with significant adds. So the equivalent would be something like Shestekin, Miller, a bum prospect, and a 1st.
