If Your Hugo Whats Your Next Move

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
We need a good defenseman who isn't a kid. We also need other things. We can't address them all. But that's a start. Then, we pick high again.

How was Roy’s camp?

Massive upgrade. lol.
I agree it was not as good as Kappamen.
But here we are a month after and who do you honestly think would be productive presently?
Sorry, but nobody could convice me that Roy-Tuch-Beck or Davidson would be less efficient than Dvorak-Heineman-Kappanen .

I would look at moving Matheson for a similar aged Dman that can eat big minutes, plays a simple, physical, safe and defensively sound game and makes a good first pass. I think he's too focused on offense and hurts the team more than he helps with the long shifts, turnovers and missed defensive assignments. Let Hutson play that 1st PP role and give the #2pp time to Ghule who I think has more offensive potential than he's being given credit for. Who that is I don't know and probably easier said than done. But maybe there's a fit somewhere with a team that needs Matheson's offense. I think it would change the complexion of the team for the better and solidify overall team structure.

Mailloux is a B asset?

Yes. All tools no toolbox.

Probably has an NHL future but don't have first PP nor 1st pair acuity.

He has good tools like i said and has some eyes popping skills with the puck but his comprehension of the game and play off the puck is atrocious to a point where i can't remember the last time i witnessed it.

Always out of position, constantly miss his coverage, constantly lose his puck battles and on top of that he is a puck blunder machine.

We should absolutely entertain trading him if we can get our hands on a proven forward or defenseman who would add much needed quality depth, for example someone like Brando Carlo.

There’s no reason to do anything right now.

He’s exactly at the point he was expected to be at .

He’s gonna wait out the seasons and collect a high pick clear out another good bit of salary.
Once that’s done. He’s gonna sacrifice MSL for a real coaching staff in the offseason. Then bring in a possibly 2-3 completely new veterans in some role.
Actually defining the bottom 6 with roles each line having different styles and systems of play.

Still probably won’t be good next year. But In the Mix would be accurate.
He had to know this lineup was a disaster waiting to happen. Either that or I fear he has no idea of how to put together a team. But I find that hard to believe

Disagree. He said "in da mix". I don't see da mix. I see race for bottom 3.
To give Hughes credit he did not really define what "da mix" was... So...

Sigh.

Forget waiving, It's gonna be a f***ing typhoon if I'm there. A whole bunch of these vets gone.

Bob Hartley.

Bring in better more character vets.

Bring in more physicality across the board and a wolfpack mentality. Also you're not just gonna have to hit but learn how to get hit. Like being freaking aware of your surroundings. Like Ghule, freaking wake up, bro. People want your hide like you're supposed to want their scalp. They are not your friend so when someone is near you, get ready for anything. Protect yourself.

Make a wake up multi-player trade of sort that is fair for both teams. Something shocking, with a main player without being in our top elite. To continue changing the culture. It could even be a few players that we actually like. But you've got to give to receive.

And also make them paint their eyes black it's soooo cool and intimidating, and also make them change the rules so they can open carry guns on the ice, nobody would mess with them. Aint no friends on the ice. Keep their eyes open Clockwork Orange style and make them watch MMA for at least 24 hours. Like Xhekaj, you just want to bang bro. And lots of anabolic steroids and methamphetamines. Not a f***ing typhoon man, a f***ing existence wiping solar storm. Shock the shit out of the league with drugged out players. Man, I'm f***ing good at this hockey shit.

I smell the soy milk coming out of this post! :D

Agreed. Matheson is an alright player, but he's been horribly overrated by some here and given more opportunity than he deserves. I would've traded him last summer.

None of the above, ask for a mulligan on the being 'in the mix' quote

Didn't do enough during the off-season to move the needle from picking 5th to being on the bubble, relying on a healthy Dach and a massive rebound year from Laine was never going to be enough

Reset the expectations of the fan base this is still a rebuilding year, we have a big number of UFAs on the way out and next year should be the year we start to be in the mix when it makes sense to start making trades for future players instead of picks

I'm sorry, are you Andrei79? No? Then why are you talking?

That's great. My new meme is gonna get good mileage on that:
