McDavid also did nothing for like 5 of 7 games in that series and put up a shitload of points in 2 blowouts.

He had 8 points between games 4 and 5 in that series and 3 points in the remaining 5 games.

This isn't just about stats. Lemieux was going against some guys named Gretzky, Hull, etc.

Also a guy named cancer. He missed lots of games in his prime. But WHEN HE PLAYED, he simply scored more than Ovi, and could score in many more ways than Ovi.

If your question was "who is the most consistent goal scorer of all time over many years," then yes, it's Ovi. If it was who is the "Best" goal scorer of all time, then it's Mario.

Kind of like Jim Brown being better than Emmitt Smith, even though Emmitt has a lot more yards.

You joke, but it really is unfortunately. Hockey is an entertainment business and people are more likely to engage with media of better looking individuals.

Look at the music industry, which also falls under the entertainment umbrella. A person's appearance has almost no bearing on how they sound in music / on the radio, yet 99% of singers/musicians are stupid attractive or have a unique appearance that sets them apart. Hockey is in the same ballpark. They want players they can throw on advertisements, plaster on walls, and give coherent interviews. It all boils down to making more money and attractive people generate more money in general.

Crosby has 63 more points in 138 less gp in the reg season.
Crosby has 201 points in 180 po games and ovechkin has 141 in 151.
Internationally
Crosby has 52 points in 41 games games as a senior and ovechkin has 79 points in 106 gp.

So in total nhl career reg+playoff crosby has 123 more points in 109 less games played. Its honestly not even close
