BTW I have been thinking about this and given that there are so much more players of the Habs from the past I would like to have jerseys of(where maybe I did not have the chance to buy one of those players at the time) but it would be weird for example having a current-styled jersey with the name Lafleur and other former players on it that if and when I come around buying one of these players that I would buy a style and material of jersey from that time, right.

Like if I buy one of the Rocket, it will like the one he had at the time with just the number and the laces on the collar. In the 80s and 90s, CCM of course. But I wonder when Kovalev was playing for us, did they have the same jersey that the current Habs have?

It was very similar but jerseys have changed slightly over a short time, even during Kovy’s time. The jersey he started with wasn’t the same as the last one he wore. My Price jersey doesn’t look like today’s jerseys, to the naked eye it looks the same but I see some differences today. But for the more vintage jerseys I’d do the same as you. Nothing wrong with getting a modern Habs jersey and getting Richard in the back but I’d go for the same look they had for the time.

If I had to buy one today, it'd likely be Suzuki. That would change as soon as Demidov signs his next deal though. I want a guy locked up long-term before I commit to buying his jersey.

Lafleur #10 and Richard #9 are the only two habs jersey with names on the back i own. Once you hit a certain age, names on the back are kinda done. I always thought if the player is younger than yourself, you shouldn't wear that players jersey...just my opinion.

If someone was asking me which current habs player to get, I think i would say Suzuki. He is/and will continue to be the leader of this group for the next long while...

But in the real world, I'm not getting any current players' names on my back. The only jersey I own has my very first hockey hero's number 4 and the name "Beliveau" on the back. And yes, I'm aware that, back then, they had numbers but no names.

No name on the back. Players come and go, and jersey's are expensive. Might as well keep it for the long run.

Only time I put a current players name on a jersey was Subban after he signed his big deal, so that sucked.

For the sake of this post though, I voted Suzuki, we know what were going to get out of him, Demidov may score 1000 points with the habs or head back to Russia, you can never be 100% sure.
