Bure is one of the most underrated player on this forum. But I don't necessarily agree with this. It's easy to say he was held back by the deadpuck era but I think he exploited the big slow lumbering players that were being dressed a fair bit too. I feel like his style of play was tailor made to go up against that competition.

I think Bure still blows by modern defensemen. Look at how many breakaways guys like Grabner or Kreider still get. Bure would get the same, plus maybe more, and is a much better finisher. The real difference is how Bure would be able to operate in the offensive zone. It's pretty similar to what I was thinking about Bondra. Same chances on the rush, but more chances on the cycle.

It would've been interesting to see what David Legwand could've done on an established team with better players around him. Would he have had the offensive impact so many thought he could've had? The two seasons he played with Kariya and Erat we got to see the talent shine through. Would've been fun to see that his entire career.

There's a few players I'd like to see for different reasons.

Mario- As a lifelong Pittsburgher, I have heard all of the tales of Mario, but was too young to watch him in his prime. (I was born almost exactly between the 91 and 92 Stanley Cups). Without the insane injuries/cancer who knows where he would have wound up all-time stats.

Scott Stevens - I think it would be interesting to see how effective he would be with the way the game is called and the way suspensions are doled out. Would he still be an effective player, or would the strictness of today's game handcuff him too much? Also, how would his offensive prowess translate to today's game where defense and goaltending is more fine-tuned.

Karlsson before Matt Cooke altered his career:

That's a highlight clip from ONE GAME about a week before the injury.

Pavel Bure definitely, he would excel tremendously with these post-lockout new rules and changes. No more two line passes.

This. I also think he would give McDavid a run for his money as best skater, think a lot of the percieved difference is due to semi-outdated footage and equipment.

Doug Harvey since I find him very overrated. Would love to see him with modern training and equipment to either be proven wrong or validate my opinion.

I would restart Crosby’s career just to see him win two extra Hart and Art Ross (2011 & 2013).

I would watch Game 7 of the 1994 SCF over and over again as a kid and I was absolutely enamored with Bure. That play late in where the puck just misses the post across the crease is jaw dropping.

And he totally bodies Beukeboom who I always thought was like the top of the line toughest baddest SOB when I was a kid too.

lol at Messier trying to blatantly trip Bure on that play...no call.

Goride Howe. From everything I understand he was a monster. Just imagine how much stronger he'd have been if he could have taken advantage of modern day medicine and nutrition?

Igor Larionov. He was already pretty old when he came to North America and he was down right brilliant playing for Detroit. When those Russians came to Detroit in the 90's it took me a while to actually understand what the hell they were doing. Best hockey of the dead puck era by a mile.

Maurice Richard. Sure there's health and fitness that's going to make him a better player, but also imagine how much better a time he'd have in the modern NHL without having to constantly compete with discrimination.

Larry Robinson - He was only 6"4 but back then that was a huge man. He was called Big Bird, after all. Imagine him playing for Montreal while Chara was playing in Ottawa and Boston? DAMNNNNNN

Doug Harvey - I haven't seen any video of this guy, but six Noris Trophies and 7 cups over the span of 9 years? DAMN! Yeah, show me what the hell that looks like!
