If you could start over any player’s career..

I loved watching him play defence so my emotional pick is pronger but The logical part says guys like Orr, Lemieux, bure, Richard would be unbelievable to watch without so much obstruction

Would've love to see the Swedish player Ove Molin in today's game. Then all of you on HF would know his name as well since I'm sure he would fit well and make it to today's NHL. Ove was a small, quick, and very skilled player and a living legend in Brynäs, the same team where Nicklas Bäckstrom, Jacob Markstrom, Elias Lindholm, and others played before they came to the NHL.

Brian. Leetch.

And if this is an option instead of bringing a 20 year old Leetch to 2020, can I bring my 30 year old self back to the early 90's so I'm old enough to experience 1994 and I can escape this hell hole that 2020 has become???

I just barely missed 1994, I was 4 years old and really started to get into hockey in 1997. My earliest memory was the series against the Panthers where Gretzky scored a hat trick and Tikkanen scored the OT winner off the camera in the net and they had to review it. I remember exactly where I was and who I was with. The first game I have distinct memories of attending was the game where Gretzky's wife got seriously injured when the glass board fell on her.

I think I have a very vague memory of my dad coming to wake me up late one night to tell me "we did it, we won the Stanley Cup" though I could also be making that up.
I’m about the same age as you and I also started getting into hockey and the Rangers in 1997 as well.

My earliest Rangers memories were being so happy we beat the Devils in the playoffs and then getting beat by Lindros and the legion of Doom, hated Lindros with all my heart from that moment on. Little did I know that was going to be my last Rangers playoffs until I was aleady out of high school.

I wonder what would happen if at some point we are able to slow down the aging process and eventually reverse it. Like say by the time Gretzky is 85 they're able to start reversing the aging process, and he turns back into a 25 year old. Does he start playing hockey again? Does the NHL have a second draft for over agers who have developed into really good hockey players?

Makes you think.

If I skip the obvious of Orr and better therapy/surgery... and most every skilled player that's around 50 now as the 80s were the worst time to be a young developing player.

Kent Nilsson - coaches in this day and age wouldn't let him get away with not trying and he would've been an all-time great.
Al Iafrate. Today's culture would've helped.
Derek Sanderson. I know players/people still have issues but I think they're much more cognizant of it in the NHL nowadays.
Guy Lafleur. Amazing career but wish he was moved before the idiocy in Montreal.

Alexander Daigle. I think it was ruined before the NHL. Always have the sense that although he was great at hockey, he just didn't really like it. Reminds me that we need to actually listen to our kids. Just because a child excels at something doesn't mean they love it.

Another vote for Lindros. He didn't leave much of a legacy, yet is still considered a great. I think given a redo he'd make his way up the all-time lists.

Jagr, I think he would be successful in absolutely any era, and I'd love to have a player in the league that I knew I could cheer on for the next 40-50 seasons.

Recently for the Habs, Alex Galchenyuk without the dinosaurs Therrien/Julien as coaches. Even considering his limitations, with his talent it's appalling that he couldnt at least be a 25g top-six winger. I like Desharnais more than others but to see him start every PP while our young 6ft2, 3rd overall pick with a strong shot and hands was on the bench made me scream at my TV.

All-time, I would like to see Roy back as a rookie today.

I was very young by the end of his career, never really got to see prime Cam Neely. Would love to see how he'd fare in the modern game.

I could name four teams worth of guys.

But I'm going to say Zach Bogosian. I think if he stayed healthy and was on the right team he'd easily be a solid defenseman in the league.

What I loved about Bogosian was how well he'd clear the zone, throw an amazingly clean-solid hit, and finally how amazing of a skater he was.

Rick MacLeish for me. The old schoolers talked him up so much and I’m not just talking about the Philly fans.

Ovechkin......I believe Mcphee wasted the first part of Ovis career. When Mcphee was in charge he settled for mediocre deadline acquisitions of fading offensive stars, bargain bin Dman that had no business being in the league and journeymen/mediocre goalies. He was always unwilling to trade his precious prospects for players that mattered until he finally did out of absolute desperation in an attempt to save his job with the Erat trade. Winning the cup is such a fluky thing but Id bet Ovi would have atleast made it past the 2nd round a couple times in those first 6-7 years with a different architect.
